Businessmen concerned over RP political outlook

“2007 will be like 2006. In my view, we will muddle through. Be happy if you don’t need government, like consumer-based industries. If you need government for your business in 2007, take an extended leave.” -Henry Schumacher, executive vice-president of the European Chamber of Commerce

Foreign and local businessmen in the Philippines on Friday expressed grave concern over alleged electoral fraud and policy reversals under President Arroyo.

These factors risked undermining recent successes in fixing the economic and fiscal front, they said in a forum with the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines.

Firms have been turned off by a series of policy “flip-flops” involving aviation, oil exploration and anti-corruption said Ramon del Rosario, chairman of the influential Makati Business Club.

He also said the business community was scandalized that Mrs. Arroyo and allies attempted to change the 1987 Constitution without the consent of the Senate.

Mrs. Arroyo wanted the Philippines’ US-style presidential form of government changed to a parliamentary form, which she argues is more efficient. Opponents say this appears to be a ploy to prolong her stay in power.

The plan was dropped after threats of massive street protests.

“We are deeply bothered by the observation that the current administration seems to have become very comfortable with the idea of simply barrelling through with [its] political initiatives and measures with very little regard to constitutional, legal and moral constraints,” del Rosario said.

Corruption and alleged electoral fraud, meanwhile, are pulling down prospects in the long term, del Rosario said, noting that the country was at the bottom of various competitive surveys.

“The past two years have been particularly frustrating and discouraging in terms of our country’s aspirations towards a regime of greater accountability and good governance,” he said.

Arroyo survived two impeachment bids after admitting she called a poll commissioner while votes were being counted for the May, 2004 elections.

The Makati Business Club, once an Arroyo supporter, called for her resignation after the furor over her telephone calls became public. She has denied any wrongdoing.

Henry Schumacher, executive vice-president of the European Chamber of Commerce, said intense politicking was driving investors away and sidetracking infrastructure programs.

“2007 will be like 2006. In my view, we will muddle through. Be happy if you don’t need government, like consumer-based industries. If you need government for your business in 2007, take an extended leave,” he said.

Both businessmen pushed for wide ranging reforms, with del Rosario pushing for a revamp of the Commission on Elections. (ABS-CBN Interactive)

  1. Re Mr Del Rosario’s statement:

““We are deeply bothered by the observation that the current administration seems to have become very comfortable with the idea of simply barrelling through with [its] political initiatives and measures with very little regard to constitutional, legal and moral constraints.”

Mr del Rosario, MBC chairman, is not the only one that’s deeply bothered by the shenanigans of the liar, cheat and thief in Malacanang. Many other business club leaders are very, very , very bothered.

Mr del Rosario is getting a taste of the pudding – MBC was one of those “influential” business institutions that went out of its way to collude with Gloria Mandaraya in breaching the Constitution. Just the same, we should welcome the MBC, if they are at all sincere, in our ranks, in the ranks of those who are going out of our way to denounce Gloria for her depravation, for her continuing disregard for the Rule of Law.

I would like to tell Mr del Rosario that it is not enough to say that the MBC is bothered – they must act. They as members of the “influential” business club that is the Makati Business Club have the education, the means and if we are to go by the standards they follow, have the determination to defeat Gloria Mandaraya.

Unless they can walk the talk, Mr del Rosario’s Makati Business Club had better just shut up.

Knowledge, ideas, gripes and complaints without the will to act are impotent.

    That’s it: walk the talk.

Huwag po kayong masuka sa ikukuwento ko sa inyo. There are reports that Loren Legarda and Tito Sotto have expressed their interest to join the administration ticket. Ang lumalakad daw dito si Angara. Even Richard Gomez has applied to be included in Arroyo’s team. Kung tutoo ito, nakakasuka talaga.

Raul Gonzalez came out with another crazy conclusion that Iloilo Gov. Tupas and the Province’s PNP Director Dulay are best of friends. Moro-moro lang daw ang nangyari sa kapitolyo. Gonzalez should be the last person to make such a remark considering that he’s even the Secretary of Justice. Kinalawang na talaga ang utak sa katandaan. He even attacked Human Rights Commission’s Quisumbing. Pati HRC na isang independent body tinira ni Gonzalez.

Sa international news naman, pumalag ang US sa pagbagsak ng satellite ng China as part of the latter’s space project. Buwelta ng China sa US: Kung kayo puwede bakit kami hindi? So there you go, China is slowly becoming the next superpower even in space race. Ang gusto kasi ng US sila lang ang bida. Puwede silang magkaroon ng nuclear weapon at makialam sa ibang bansa but she’s against other countries like China doing the same.

i hope there is no truth to your kwento mandirigma dahil talagang nakakasuka iyan.

  5. mandirigma mandirigma

I hope not. Narinig ko na iyan tapos nabasa ko sa isang diaryo. Sa takbo ng pulitika ngayon, lahat ay puwedeng mangyari. I know Sotto is loyal to President Erap and opposition and Legarda hates Arroyo so much. But everything is possible. Medyo kulang sa pondo daw ang opposition. In last election, who would have thought Osmena in Arroyo’s team? Yet, Osmena is very close to Erap and has always been sympathetic to the opposition. Ang intention naman ng mga pulitiko manalo. After winning, magbabago sila ng position depende kung saan ang mas may biyaya.

I am PROUD of the stand of the businessmen. Their comments, to me, is a reflection of the true sentiments of majority of the people. I am most pleased, most especially w/ the comments of Mr. Schumacher.

Regarding Mandrigma’s comments about Rickard Gomez, that is true. I know for a fact that Erap has told Gomez NOT to run as Senator. I would believe that Erap can spot a dumbo a mile away !

  7. Re Loren and Tito, any talk about them joining administration is just talk. Saan pa ba naman manggagaling yun kungdi sa gusto manira ng opposition.

  8. chi chi

    Amen to you, Spy.
Intention is not enough, go and act!

MBC members,if true to their whining about the state of pinas economy, should act fast and tell the Pidal woman on her face to ship out of the country. Otherwise, they just continue to spoil this buliliiiit brat and remain opportunists. Stop complaining and do what you gotta do, MBC! Huwag na ninyo kaming paikutin sa inyong mga buladas!

  9. chi chi

Nah, Loren and Tito joining the administration?

I think I even saw the news published in Abante, a known opposition tabloid. Siguro naman po hindi naninira ang Abante sa opposition. In the final analysis, you would agree that everything is possible in politics. Basta na lang magugulat tayo sa hindi inaasahan. It’s all about political accommodation and realignment of forces to achieve a common goal.

  11. Hindi naninira ang Abante. Ang source ng balita na yan ang naninira.

Wanna hear something RIDICULOUS & STUPID ? Manny Pacquiao went to the COMELEC today (Friday), as, according to the COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos, Pacquiao can boost their image. Pacquiao should just stick to boxing. The STAIN of the COMELEC is contaminating..to me, it has just stained the image of a boxer. Sayang sya. Nagpagamit.

  13. mandirigma mandirigma

If that’s the case Ka Ellen, why did Abante publish the report without verifying. Kung alam at may kutob ang Abante na naninira lang ang nagbigay ng balita, bakit pa inilathala? As a respected journalist, would you have published it? Iyan po naman ay opinion lang and I’m in no way refuting your statement. Salamat po.

In all indicatioins, Tito Sotto will definitely run but never under the ticket of GMA. What we have been reading is part of a massive disinformation being perpetrated by Malacanang operatives to sow confusion. The usual machinations. Even the third force being floated originated from them. Otherwise, Angara, who is a sure winner, could not have said the third force will not be pushed through and that it’s all over for him when he realized that he’s not among those in the UNO line up.

Meantime, Ermita is boasting that their senatorial dream team could muster a perfect score of 12-0. They are dreaming!

  15. Chabeli Chabeli

Yes, we must be careful w/ disinformation ! A desperate GLORIA willl say anything to destroy winnable candidates ! Although I cannot stomach Tito Sotto, III-the druglord cuddler.

    Chabeli,

I just read that Manny Paquiao, Philippine Idol, etc. will be used by the administration to ensure bansot’s victory in the coming polls.

So whaaaat? They all stink! I never liked MP, simula pa ay nagpapagamit na s’ya sa mga Pidal.

A newspaper report says that Manny Pacquiao went to Comelec and met Abalos. It added fuel to the rumor that Pacquio is entering politics which he denied. Tutulong lang daw siya sa Comelec kaya siya nakipagkita kay Abalos.

I wonder in what area of concern can Pacquiao be of help in the election process.

  18. Chabeli, Tito Sotto is not and was never a drug lord. I think it has been discussed in this blog already.it was a member of his staff who was involved, not Sotto. If ever, his fault is not being a good office administrator.

I have first had knowledge of how that “demolition” work against Sotto came about because I was covering Malacañang then (1995 or 96, i’m not sure) Tito Guingona was executive secretary, who wanted to run as vice president. It was the handiwork of FVR boys. They were the ones feeding us the false info.

  19. Chi,

Manny Pacquiao being used by the Malacanang squatters is no longer news. It is an established fact. He is also buddy-buddy with the son-in-law of Ermita who heads the Philippine sports association.

The Pacman is their diehard tsimoy, in other words. He was boasting of having the hotline no. of the donya switik (the small letter intended as I would not like to give credit to this bansot), and his sons having the Pidal son as their godfather, and that he is in an out of the palace by the murky river.

I don’t know for how long he can keep his millions with his gambling boasted by the gamblers around him. He was telling us about his closeness to the Pidals because of their bingo sessions, sabong, horseracing, etc. Gambling apparently is the main industry of these crooks in the government aside from the human trafficking that the OFWs (overseas Filipino workers not overseas Filipinos worldwide) do not realize they are part and parcel of! Sad but true.

I was typing my latest post, I didn’t notice you posted much ahead of Pacquiao going to Comelec. To boost the image of the Comelec ba kamo? An outright admission that it’s image is highly tainted because of Hello Garci!

Yon nga, I wonder in what way Pacquiao can boost the image of the Comelec. Wala akong maisip. By throwing punches on the air?

I am entertaining a feint idea that Pacquiao may run after all, his filing of candidacy on hold and a hush-hush. They are testing the waters, ika nga.

  21. I agree with Yuko that Gloria’s daughter has an internet brigade lurking in the cyberspace and there are those who simply want to be a pest. (Been told and was alerted a few times by no less than someone who had been an erstwhile friend of the bansot!)

I also believe that there are commenters in various blogs and in cyberspace forums who support Gloria and her minions – they perhaps are not paid as such but are prepared to defend Gloria and her fake administration because they believe that she is the best thing that happened to Pinas.

So, we really have to be careful and not fall prey to gossip sounding news items. Gossip mongers are neither here nor there. They are a waste of Ellen’s precious ration.

  22. Chabeli Chabeli

    Ms. Ellen,
Oh, no ! I apologize for that error then. Nope, it was NOT a “lapse of judgement” on my part-he heh-but an honest mistake. Where I left off about that issue was his involvement in cuddling a certain drug lord. Thanks for the information on Sotto, Ms. Ellen.
    *******************
    Joeseg,
I, too, wonder “in what way Pacquiao can boost the image of the Comelec…” ? You say, “By throwing punches on the air?” Or maybe he can give Abalos & the rest of the GARCI Group a knock-out punch-that would improve the COMELEC’s image !

  23. “By throwing punches in the air?”

Yeah, more like it, Joeseg! Heck, why don’t Gloria and her fattened minions give the man a break, leave him alone, he’s good at boxing so let him do what he does best – why on earth will they want him to be in politics, to be as bad as them?

    Damn perverts!

  24. With the example of Brenda, who was an Erap ally, people cannot be blamed if they believe the gossipmongers who want to destroy the reputation of Sotto and Legarda, who are sure winners in any election unless votes for them are stolen by vote-riggers like Garcillano, et al. as what happened in 2004.

Funny how they would even give credence to the votes in Cebu compared to the votes in Manila, which has more voters than there are voters in that tiny island that the Great Switik wants to make as capital of her conceived kingdom just in case.

It used to be that whoever won the election in Manila would sure get the position, but this has been changed apparently by the creep who calls herself president, and who remains in office because she can dip her hands into the national coffers and pay the generals, et al with money taken from there and other sources to get rid of all those who can in fact remove her by hook or by crook except that right now, Filipinos probably need more chastising and a learning period to know and understand very well their basic duties and responsibilities that come with rights and privileges under the laws that a lot many of them in fact are willing to break. Sad but true!

But Manny telling us to trust the Commission on Elections, that institution which gave us former commissioner Virgilio Garcillano, as he did yesterday during a visit to the Comelec office in Intramuros? Sorry but, no, thank you. We’re not buying..”

  26. Poor Pacquiao!

“You know we’re already deeply partisan in this country; we’re terribly divided in this country… Should we now begin representing the mainstream Filipino, the middle Filipino who’s been leaving in droves our country and looking for greener pastures because the grass here is so dry and so infertile? Why should we not now begin to speak for the mainstream Filipino?”

It was in Jan. 20, 2001 that marked EDSA DOS. It isn’t exactly a day to rejoice & be glad. Maybe that’s why Gloria didn’t celebrate this day..in this aspect she’s correct not to have prepared a celebration, because what EDSA DOS has become is a DARK REMINDER for those, like me, who thought GLORIA was the answer. Our mistake was being lured into a short-cut. Now, I can only heave a sigh of regret..

  29. Call it illusion of grandeur! Pacman must be feeling like the squatters of the palace by the murky river. Nahawa na rin! 32. Chabeli:

I was not exactly pro-Erap but between one duly elected by the people and a bogus one, who has proved to be no respecter of the law, I would select the former, and I was right. At least, I don’t have to bang my head in the wall now, but grateful that I have stood my ground.

In fact, a lot many people have found my arguments now valid and sane, especially because they are arguments based on a lot of common sense, and a love for the rule of law, both of God and of men. It’s actually as simple as that.

The truth was I had a project with deposed President Estrada that was disrupted by the impeachment proceeding, and finally, by his removal. I was in fact disappointed when he opted to leave Malacanang and not defend his position despite the fact that there were a lot many people out there willing to help him.

I saw a lot of the video transmissions from Manila, even the beatings of Erap supporters by policemen and military personnel who must have been told to do so to prevent them from stopping the inauguration of the fake president. Come to think of it. How could policemen under Lacson, then Chief of Police, do that if they had not been told that it would be OK?

Lacson in fact went to the inauguration with Orly Mercado, who wore the same kind of black shirt that Drilon was wearing and I knew he was one of them plotters to remove the legitimate president. They were actually booed by EDSA 2 supporters and Lacson finding a good excuse by saying the following day that he was there to insure that it would not turn into a skirmish between pros and cons of EDSA 2. I could only raise an eyebrow for that!

But then, when Estrada said taht he would not like to shed innocent Filipino blood, I had to concede that it was the best thing he could do with members of his cabinet being the first ones to go to the other side! I could not help but pity him.

Sabi ko sa sarili ko noon, “Pinoy talaga!” Loyalty, apparently, is something a lot many Filipinos have yet to learn. The only ones who undertstand such a thing it seems are the Ilocanos, especially from Ilocos Norte, and I am not saying this because my mother is from there! It just happens to be another established fact! Ang luknot! 🙁

The businessmen concerned over RP political outlook could be also equated to the economic outlook which GMA is boasting to be healthy and robust based on the strong peso. Umaapaw ang US dollars sa ma banko natin.

But why is it that the gains they are shouting with glee is not being felt by the ordinary man in the streets. Many are still going hungry. The prices of basic commodities are skyocketing up and there’s always a threat of power and water fees increase, lahat na may increase. Everything is going up except the lady by the murky river (pahiram Anna).

To somebody who does not have a doctorate in economics, the answer is simple. LACK OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

The upsurge of peso against the dollar is a natural course because dollar is weakening everywhere because as we know, US is mired into different wars they are into. Dollars coming in are from foreign currency loans, those who capitalizing in stocks and of course, the remittances of our modern heroes, the OFWs.

Sino lang ang nakikinabang? Yong mga kapitalista na nakapasok ang pera sa stocks but who are mostly foreigners. Their income are not retained in the country. As long as there ano direct investments in the manufacturing sector that will generate jobs, wala rin. Only for the haves, the havenots, gutom.

Ang mga padalang pera ng OFWs, siempre ipamimili yan and who profits in the end? The big businesses, notably Henry Sy of the SM Malls. May employment opportunity nga sa SM but they are contractual employees, who after five months will be rotated out to avoid being a permanent employee and enjoy the benefits, a clear circumvention of the labor laws. This is how Henry Sy shoot up as the no. 1 billionaire in the Philippines. Bakit patuloy ang ganitong sistema gayung labag sa batas? Because the present administration has allowed it to continue with impunity. The one with the the ph.d in economics who has the penchant to wither the rule of law allowed it. Sino pa?

  35. Ellen:

Massive spending for election is a crime. It is called “electioneering.” There is a provision on this in the Election Code of the Philippines, and use of government funds is a big no-no! How come Ermita is being allowed to even make an announcement of this, and the prosecutor’s office there not reprimanding him for it? Golly ang daming abogado walang pumapalag! Ano sila, mga bobo?

Tribune’s banner says, “Palace to use gov’t funds resources for 2007 polls.” Kasama pa siguro diyan iyong ihuhulog sa private accounts sa Swiss and German banks and the rush to lower the rate of the peso versus the dollar!

Speaking of exchange rate, even with the recession that has made the dollar weaker than other foreign currencies as the EURO, etc., I can’t see how the peso can be stronger even with the sagging dollar with the Philippines having only Filipinos as its main industry as when Lagayman, et al boasts of the OFWs as the Philippines’ Numero Uno export commodity!!!

Mekeni kasi kaya ang yabang ng ungas. Improved economy daw even with majority of Filipinos living below poverty line!

The best way to understand politics, good and dirty, is by getting involved. I am into helping Filipinos in distress in Japan as a matter of fact, and it makes my blood boil really to see these Filipinos being made to accept the kind of life they lead because of the negligence of their own government while the Japanese government thinks of all ways to prevent them from coming over.

I have a better appreciation of politics for example in Japan after volunteering as an aide in some political campaign, especially of those candidates from the grassroot movements. In fact, I did that to get an insight of how a clean campaign can be done, and share the know-how with my friends in the Philippines. Unfortunately, the only people who can respond appropriately to that are the more matured voters of Manila, not those in the provinces where landlords, gambling lords like Chavit Singson, et al dominate. They end up being tagged as commies, and become victims of extrajudicial killings.

BTW, it is why I am in this group protesting against the extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. At least, over in Japan, we get to be heard, and are getting results.

I heard over the radio DZME yesterday that the presence of boxer Manny Pacquiao at Comelec chief Benjamin Abalos’ office is related to gun ban exception permit. Perhaps Chairman Abalos wants to grab the opportunity and makes it appear as a Pacquiao endorsement to boost Comelec’s integrity. Wow! It’s a big BS. What a spin? Manny is no saint at all. He is a known gambler, sabungero and babaero. Maybe Pacquiao is endorsing a defective and unreliable product-Comelec cheating machine. Kahit si Santo Papa ang mag-endorso o may basbas hindi mabura ang mga kalokohan sa Comelec habang nadiyan si politikong Abalos at mga suwitik boys.

  39. Anna,

Pacman, with the adulation, etc. given him and his clan (the mother in fact is invited in many TV programs and getting new wardrobe for that—dinaig pa si Kris Aquino!), I can’t blame him for feeling like some savior of a damsel (Pandak) in distress, and assuring Filipinos that the Comelec is now a reformed institution even with the same crooks running it.

I really feel sorry for him. He’s very religious as a matter of fact. Kuwintas niya, rosaryo! Unfortunately, no one has told him that God dislikes gamblers and drunks!

He should read the Holy Scriptures, and should also be told that the woman he idolizes is the epitome of all the things that God hates—“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” (Prov. 6:16-19)

Ang sabi nga ng Panginoon, “And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. • • • No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16: 9, 13)

Kawawang nilalang! But as Pacman says, kailangan niya ang mga Pidal so he can enjoy his million dollars!

  40. Yes, I agree with you but the poor fella probably doesn’t have much of an education and is impresionable.

I remember when you sent our barkada that pic with him and you (but who was the other woman, the wife?) you said something about an admission by Pacquiao about Fatso’s bets.

If he continues in bad company (Fatso and Chavit criminal Singson), at the end of the day, he might lose everything even his shorts!

  41. Yup, Anna, that was Jinky the wife, who has ballooned since then! I did not recognize her on TV Patrol until she was called by her name. Lumaki kasi.

As for his educational attainment, I understand that Pacman did not even finish elementary school, but he talked of his American manager getting him a high school diploma and encouraging him to get a college diploma if he wanted to become a mayor in his hometown. The last I heard of him was he was busy tinkering the keyboard of his new computer. I just don’t know if he has joined the Internet Brigade homebased in Cebu!

Ikaw na ang makumbida palagi sa Malacanang complete with the catered food and special bread shaped like boxing gloves. Nakakalaki ng butas ng ilong!

I know he is in charge of the Pidal’s sabungan and being promised control of the Lotto (Bingo) the Pidals are thinking of substituting for the illegal jueteng. I understand that in fact, he handles the weekly bingo, too, together with the horsey son, who is his partner in crime with the blessing of the Mafia bosses at Malacanang!

Yuko, Anna, Pacquiao’s money is what draws the Pidals to him like magnet. Firstly, Pacquiao’s bank accounts can be a good conduit for the crime dons to move their dirty money around. These accounts are considered “clean” by money laundering watchdogs here and abroad.

Secondly, he has plenty of it in stock unlike the Pidals, who need to fly to Hong Kong or Europe if their bagmen Genuino, Bolante, businessmen sponsors, and the likes cannot produce the needed sum immediately without attracting much attention.

Last, I think these idiots know their association with him will make people believe Manny is just being used to boost Gloria’s pitiful image and repute. Meanwhile, the real sinister plan is to silently strip him down to his boxer shorts and rob him clean of his earnings in soon-to-fail gambling and business deals. I’ve seen this modus operandi before especially like some businessmen who were also casino high rollers like Manny who just kept silent after bankruptcy because they were victims of their own greed. That’s how bigtime swindlers work, they feed your greed with small deals at first and at the right moment, make a big hit and dump you like shit. I learned this from a British businessman who used to operate out of Alabang his stock market scam. His right hand man is an Italian heir to a mafia family.

The likes of an Amado Pastrana, the Pidals’ envy whom they hope to imitate.

  46. Tongue,

What you exposed there is clearly an act or acts of money laundering. What you say is plausible because we know that the Malacanang Consiligieri aka Fatso Mike is capable of anything and everything – why, he even stripped Joc Joc of his last shred of dignity (fella can’t come home coz he might get killed?) after he used him as his bag man and more likely, as his money launderer.

“Meanwhile, the real sinister plan is to silently strip him down to his boxer shorts and rob him clean of his earnings in soon-to-fail gambling and business deals.”

I agree with that – when the poor fella’s brain is all mashed up and can no longer take the hits, and he needs money for a nurse, he will find he’s got nothing.

    Unfortunate creature.

Gloria wanted Jamby to launder money for her when she worked for Gloria at the Dept of Social Welfare.

I am convinced that this mafia family squatting in Malacanang are into money laundering. Alan Cayetano has some of the goods but he’s got to get in there and slug it out with Consiglieri Fatso Mike.

    F****** Goons!

Amador “Ding” Pastrana is the correct name.

  50. Tongue T,

Pacman actually knows what he is getting into. In fact, he said that he hooked himself to the First Couple (kuno) so that the switiks at BIR cannot strip him of his million dollars. Balatuhan na lang daw niya iyong mag-asawa with the money he gets from other sources but not his million dollars, for which he had staked his own life.

Medyo bibilib na sana ako if not for the articles I have read about his philandering and getting his beaus pregnant and not recognizing his children by them. That sucks, and can’t see how God can bless an adulterer if he has not sold his soul to the devil.

You bet, with the phase he is going now, without his knowing it, baka mabaon siya sa utang!!! Not even his earnings from San Miguel Corporation can save him, and it is not all the time that he can have his title. I heard that a Venezuelan who has not been defeated in his fight and can topple his opponent in one round is apt to challenge him someday. That will be the day!

When he is no longer a champion, I doubt if he can call the hotline of the Great Switik as he claims he does now.

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  51. “I really feel sorry for him. He’s very religious as a matter of fact. Kuwintas niya, rosaryo! Unfortunately, no one has told him that God dislikes gamblers and drunks!” Even religious people are open to greed, because we are all sinners, everyone of us. just look at all the personalities busy crossing their chest but obviously seen to be corrupt breaking all the ten commandments.
Whats in it for the Pacman? painkiller, booze & buger advertising which means much loot in his bank account, its as simply as that; greed.

  52. The word is not loot, WWNL. Pacman is not looting money from these advertisers, who are in fact corrupting him. Greed? Maybe especially with all those greedy people surrounding him now and sucking him dry!

  53. I find this false doctrine about the sinner thing really disturbing. Over in our church we don’t talk of this doctrine about the natural man that cannot be beneficial to the Gospel of Christ about encouraging mankind to be like the Father that is in Heaven.

Instead of going by the Catholic book about mankind being sinners, I would rather use the word “weak” and susceptible to temptations that through obedience to the Commandments of God, etc. can actually be overcome. No wonder other people do not progress from the state they have pushed themselves into!

You bet, I am trying to be what Our Heavenly Father wants me to be. Why should I listen to false doctrines being propagated by those who want to justify their sins and allegiance to the father and even mother of lies and deceit!

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  54. ystakei hi,
Okey lets say cash, Packman promotes these items to earn cash otherwise why do it. It would be nice to think that he promotes bibles. He could do but he promotes Beer, Food & Pain-killer only because these earnings are bigger than if he promotes bibles. According to what he saya and reported he’s already worth a fortune and thats good for him and his family.
The point I’m trying to make is that he has no reason to promote any corrupt election body, so why is he doing it, because he’s greedy.
To use a phrase I’ve seen you use many times before, and I aree with, “birds of a feather flock together” and like it or not Packman is the same.

  55. ystakei:
But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.Psalm 37:37-39
This was preach by the Lord before the Catholic church used it.

  56. joeseg joeseg

    WWNL

Birds of the same feather make a good duster.

  57. chi chi

Kay Pakyaw…”Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are”. Like Pidal, like Pakyaw! heh!

  58. Tongue, money laundering by the Arroyos through Pacman is an open secret. Kaya wala akong gana diyan kay Manny Pacquiao.

  59. Ellen,

Pacman actually brags about his connection with the bogus first family. I interpreted for him when he was here in 2005 to watch the fight of the Cebuano guy who was from the same stable he first trained in.

I could only pity the guy, for he could be so naive to think that the Pidals love him and not his millions! He was talking of his political ambition then as a matter of fact, not knowing that with the Constitution made by Abueva, he would not qualify unless the Pidals get him some fake college diploma from some shop near Malacanang.

Kawawang nilalang! Nahibang na kasi hibang ang mga kasama!

  60. WWNL,

    FYI.

There is a movement now to revise the Bible (nothing to do with our church, though) for errors in translating it since it has passed through several translations and the original meaning getting heywired on the way before John Wycliff produced the first Bible printed by his fellow reformist, Gutenberg.

I stick to my understanding of the Holy Scriptures as prescribed in our church that concentrate more on the potential of men to be perfect like the Father in Heaven as in “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matt. 5: 48) than concentrate on the natural man who “receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor. 2:14).

Loot is stolen money, goods, etc.! Looting is a form of theft and robbery!

  61. Thanks for the info ystakei, for your information I’m not and ever have been a Catholic but the bible interests me.
In my dictionary loot (n) = money, cash, wealth, assets, thanks wwnl.

  62. Pacman has not looted any money from the national coffers. Siya ang ginagatasan ng mga Pidal. Pinapahawak ng sabong at bingo as a matter of fact kasama pihado ni Chavit! Point is bakit hindi hinuhuli iyan?

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  63. mandirigma mandirigma

I wonder what the bible say about gambling. Many states in America derive much of their income from the state lotto. The ads always talk about donating part of the income to charity like schools. Pero tama po ba ito na puwede ang sugal basta inilalaan sa kawang-gawa?

  64. Chabeli Chabeli

What I heard is that the financial advisor of Pacman is Chavit Singson. I don’t know how true this is though.

  65. mandirigma mandirigma

Hindi ka nagkakamali Ka Chabeli. Isama mo na din si Mark Jimenez sa kanilang grupo. The Big Boss is still Mike Arroyo.

  66. No way, Chabeli. Not Singson, but the Pidals themselves. This is information coming from Pacman himself backed up by another gambling lord close to him but not to Chavit, who is competition. At least, it was the impression I got from his own boastings when he was here.

Pacman gets boosting on the gambling thing from the son himself like his sabungan that gets a lot of government protection. Kumpare daw kasi niya as the horsey is the godfather of his children.

  67. apoy apoy

    Pacman?
He’s so naive. Marami ngang pera, pero kulang sa kilatis.
In boxing, magaling.. Outside the ring he doesnt know what’s left, right or straight. His disposition is weak and easily swayed by the wrong influence..This guy needs help.

  68. parasabayan parasabayan

The above article should have been about Pacman not the Makati businessmen.
Maybe it is not too late for the Makati businessmen to show how sorry they are by participating actively in this May election. They can spend their billions in making sure that they campaign against Tiyanak’s candidates. They installed her to power, they can unseat her too! Talk is cheap!
Waht will Pacman do to his millions? He has to enjoy the money he earned from being boxed all the time. Boxers may lose their health at an early age. Look at the great Muhammed Ali. He is just in the worst company-swindlers, drug lords and exploiters. Now that he is still winnable, he is like a magnet to these characters. When he loses, he will be dropped like a hot potato. He can not cope up with Tiyanak and company who have deep pockets(imagine the whole country’s monies are at their disposal!). Sabit Swing-son is also in his company. All of you guys are right, I think Pacman is being played, he is being used to probably launder their money kasi hindi mahahalata because he brings home millions, he can also bring out millions. Nobody would question him if he deposits and withdraws in millions at a time. Too bad, he is a great athlete but a bad businessman. He is just a fry swimming amongst the sharks!

WILL THE PACMAN END UP BEING A BROKE-MAN? 04 December, 2006 by Pedro Fernandez
    REVISED NUMBERS ON PACMAN DEDUCTIONS
San Francisco, CA-It appears that Manny Pacquiao, Filipino icon, professional boxer and motion picture star, even though he makes millions of American dollars per fight, is headed for the poorhouse! HBO’s Larry Merchant, talks openly about Manny’s lack of respect and education, especially in regards to money. Currently Manny’s earnings are split up like this. Co-manager Shelly Finkel, the man who was supposedly rescued Pacquiao from Murad Muhammad, gets 12%, while Californian’s Nick Kahn and John Davidson split 8%. Trainer Freddie Roach gets 10% as well.
DOES MANNY PACQUIAO NEED SHELLY FINKEL?
The Erik Morales fight(s) mindset was already set up prior to Finkel’s involvement. According to one manager, Finkel’s role is, “totally visceral. Manny was a ‘made’ fighter before Shelly. Did they build Manny into a star? Did they invest large sums of money in him? No, I don’t think so.”
MANY SAY MANNY HAS “SPENDING DISEASE”
Almost echoing HBO’s Larry Merchant, many say that Manny has a problem realizing the importance of money. “He gambles, supports a lot of people, and he’s very giving. If Manny sees something he wants, he buys it.” That has led many a fighter to selling pencils after retirement.
MONEY/CARS JUST ONE WAY SHELLY DOES IT!
With Finkel’s contract with Pacquiao set to expire in January, I was told that Shelly took Manny to a Lamborghini car lot and offered him a $250,000 automobile, if he would resign with the New Yorker. At first Manny almost bit at the proposition. But after a Filipino camp member spelled it out, Manny declined to sign. As was the case when he was with Mike Tyson, Finkel encourages the spending rampages. Mike Tyson has made over $300 million, and yet he’s broke! How do you say De Ja Vu in Tagalog?
Note: Mr. Fernandez is an award-winning writer, talk show host, TV announcer, four-time Golden Glove champion, and former San Francisco Policeman.

  70. Yuko, WWNL,

Re: “Pacman gets boosting on the gambling thing from the son himself like his sabungan that gets a lot of government protection. Kumpare daw kasi niya as the horsey is the godfather of his children.”

Walang patawad talaga sa kaublastugan itong first mafia family! Pati ba naman iyong pinahihirapan ng kawawang boxer ay pinagtutulungan na nakawin?

  71. mandirigma mandirigma

Sorry it shoud read: It’s like saying I’m the only one…

The bible is indeed a mystery. Kapag wala kang tulong mula sa Espiritu Santo, malilito ka lang. At ang tinuturuan mo malilito din.

  72. Chabeli Chabeli

    Mandirigma & Ystakei,
Thanks for your answers to my comments whether “the financial advisor of Pacman is Chavit Singson.”

“All roads,” ika nga, “lead to Rome.” In this case, “All roads lead” to MIKE ARROYO !

  73. artsee artsee

Mali Manang Chabeli. All roads lead to Pampanga o Ilocos Sur.

  74. Chabeli:

Marami na naman ang kikikilan ni Fatso na mga jueteng lord to fund their vote-rigging activity. 5M pesos daw ang hininging donation per gambling lord in 2004, and every time they have a game. Kaya tiba-tiba itong ungas at matapang na magsampa ng kaso sa bibisto sa kaniya.

Yong betting nga sa tindahan ng anak niya kung sa Japan iyan, huhulihin iyan ng pulis because it is illegal in Japan to bet outside of designated places like the horserace tracks, etc. Golly, mismong anak ng presidente kuno at opisyal pa, gambler! Bad example! Dito iyan masisibak iyan! Ang kapal ng mukha!

I wonder, magkano kaya ang donation ngayon? Masasaid pa ang pera ng bayan sa patuloy na mga kabulastugan ng mga ganid na pamilyang ito!

  75. Chabeli Chabeli

    Artsee,
What you said that “All roads lead to Pampanga o Ilocos Sur” sounds better !

  76. Chabeli:

There are also gambling lords in Cebu, Bicol (where another of the Pidal son is running for office), etc. contributing to the Pidal election fund, not necessarily all leading to Pampanga and/or Ilocos Sur.

  77. Chabeli Chabeli

    Ystakei,
You said that “Marami na naman ang kikikilan ni Fatso na mga jueteng lord to fund their vote-rigging activity. 5M pesos daw ang hininging donation per gambling lord in 2004, and every time they have a game..”

Hay naku, eh kaya naman pala BASURA ang President natin si GLORIA dahil she was funded by Jueteng Lords ! Apparently, very few people give money for politics. A Senator once told me, most of the campaign fundings from private individuals make up a very small percentage. The big bulk come from drug lords, jueteng lords & Chinese businessmen, who, by the way, thrive on corruption & people they can use, for their personal gain. Kaya look at the leaders that win. Most of them galing BASURA !

  78. Chabeli Chabeli

I would like to clarify, Ystakei, that I do not mean ALL CHINESE BUSINESSMEN, only a few of them. Sorry for that oversight on my part.

  79. Chabeli Chabeli

    Artsee,
I did not intend to offend you at all. As a matter of fact, I clarified myself & said (January 21st, 2007 at 1:15 am) “that I do NOT mean ALL CHINESE BUSINESSMEN, only a few of them. Sorry for that oversight on my part.”

One thing I am not is racial. In fact, one of my closest friend is a relative of one of those you had mentioned above.

You said, “Uli-uli mag-ingat ka sa pagbitaw ng salita at ipatatanggal kita kay Ate Ellen dito. Ako ang nagpatanggal doon sa isa.” If after explaining myself, Ms. Ellen does decide to remove me from this blog, I will respect that, Artsee.

  80. artsee artsee

Oks na ba tayo Manang Chabeli? Chaka ibebeli kita ng bagong kotse. Gusto mo?

  81. Chabeli said “One thing I am not is racial. ”

I must confess that I once thought I wasn’t racial/racist but have become one since 2001 – I’ve become racist against the Gloria-Fatso race.

I believe nothing can induce me to believe that don’t belong to the exclusive race of evil cheats, liars and thieves.

  82. Chabeli:

You bet! Swinapang na ng mga Pidal ang abuloy for the election ng mga binanggit mong opportunists. But hanga ka sa mga tumulong sa Opposition in 2004. Sakripisyo ang ginawa. In fact, the Opposition did learn a good lesson then especially in Luzon where the Unano failed to get winning votes kahit na nandaya siya.

They deserve what they get.

Sa totoo lang, I did not help in the registration of Filipino voters this time kasi useless. Maraming mga pilipino lalo na kung maganda ang katayuan sa ibang bansa, ang walang pakialam kung mabulok ang bansa nila. Marami nga ayaw nang bumalik ng Pilipinas sa totoo lang. Nevertheless, I am volunteering as foreign observer for the Opposition and some other partylist. At least, bistado namin kung nandaya!

Kawawang bansa! PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA! SANA MAGKAROON NG LAKAS NG LOOB ANG MGA PILIPINO NA GAWIN ANG KATULAD NG GINAWA NG MGA KANO LABAN KAY DUBYA! BAGSAK ANG REPUBLICAN PARTY!

  83. Anna hi:
I’m late as usual into this thread and just seen your posting. The truth is that I couln’t care less about Packman but just felt like giving my ten cents worth to the topic about him being religious by pointing out his greed for booze, burgers & pain killer earnings.
But of course I got waylaid on the religion item and using the word ‘loot’ hahaha crazy or what. (I must now point out that the noun for LOOT is Money!! the verb for LOOT is the act of stealing Phew!) I really couldn’t give a shoot for Packman but when I meet a dog with a bone who won’t let go what can I do because I have a different opinion Phew! I’ll always fight my corner when there’s open debate. But Packman and religion are not worth arguing about, at least not when the debate is so one sided and so wrong, thats my opinion. But today is another day and I’m still Laffin!.

  84. Off topic but an interesting article in the Malaya by Philip S. Chua M.D. titled Dr. Google and cyberchondriacs (now there’s a new english word).
