On January 25, Gloria Arroyo will be in Davos, Switzerland to attend this year’s World Economic Forum, an annual event supervised by the Swiss Federal government that aims to “improve the state of the world.”
Participants to the WEF come from business, politics, academe, media, and civil society.
This is the second WEF participation of Arroyo (the first was in New York in 2002) but this will be her first visit to Switzerland.
The Swiss trip is the answer to questions why after sitting on it for four years, the Arroyo administration decided to file graft and extortion charges against former Justice Secretary Hernando Perez even as Malacañang, specifically Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, declares him innocent.
Remember her signing of the repeal of the death penalty before her Vatican trip June last year? It’s all part of her image-cleansing agenda.
Arroyo expects to be asked by Swiss officials and the media about something that they referred to the Philippine government almost four years ago.
Now, she can say that charges have been filed against the recipient of the $2 million that ended in a Swiss account. She may even say that it’s proof that her government is serious about eradicating graft and corruption, which we all know is a big lie.
Anti-graft crusader Frank Chavez is not impressed with the Ombudsman’s action against Perez and sees it as part of a charade. “Had they charged him with money laundering and plunder which are non-bailable, I would have saluted them,” he said.
Chavez advised Ombudsman lawyers who say Perez’ crime does not constitute plunder which should be a series of acts to accumulate ill-gotten wealth of at least P50 million because it was just a single act, to review his Sept. 18, 2003 letter to then Ombudsman Simeon Marcelo.
Chavez said Perez’ crime took at least 10 acts. Here’s a portion of Chavez’ letter:
It’s a matter of record that as of April 15, 2003, the Embassy of Switzerland requested the Philippine Government to extend judicial legal assistance in criminal matters relating to what Switzerland presents to be money-laundering activities of a certain Hernando Benito Perez, reportedly a former Secretary of Justice, Republic of the Philippines. The request of the Embassy of Switzerland is based on the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters between the Swiss Confederation and the Republic of the Philippines signed in Manila on July 9, 2002.
Documented proof shows the following facts:
1. On March 5, 2001, EFG Private Bank SA, Geneva Branch, opened Deposit Account No. 338l18 in the name of Rosario Salvador Perez and Ramon Castillo Arceo Jr., both Philippine citizens.
2. Ms. Perez and Mr. Arceo executed power of attorney in favor of Hernando Benito Perez, husband of Rosario Salvador Perez. Account No. 338118 was closed on Oct. 31, 2001.
3. On March 27, 2001, EFG Private Bank SA, Geneva Branch, opened Deposit Account No. 338128 in the name of Ernest de Leon Escaler, a Philippine citizen.
4. On March 11, 2001, EFG Private Bank SA, Geneva Branch opened at the request of Ernest de Leon Escaler, Deposit Account No. 338372 in the name of Lucky Clover Enterprises Ltd. Incorporated in British Virgin Islands (BVI). A person authorized by a company named Capcept Limited signed all the documents relating to the opening of this account. The company EFG Financial Advisory Pte Limited, with head office in Singapore, undertook the aforesaid banking transactions.
5.The documents relative to the opening of Account No. 338118 indicate that Ernest de Leon Escaler is the ‘center of influence of EFG Financial Advisory in the Philippines.’ In parallel transactions, accounts were also opened in the names of the same holders, under references 348118, 348128 and 348372 with the EFG Private Bank SA, Guernsey Branch.
6.Documents from Switzerland identified Hernando Benito Perez as the Justice Secretary who would have collected the amount of USD2 million resulting from acts of corruption or from extortion.
7. On March 6, 2001, Account No. 338118 actually received the amount of USD1 million from the account of Ernest de Leon Escaler at the Coutts (Schweiz) AG Hongkong.
8. The account of Rosario Salvador Perez and Ramon Castillo Arceo with EFG Private Bank, Guernsey Branch, was credited in May 2001 with the amount of USD699,985 which amounts came from different investments and inter-account movements.
9.With the closure of Account No. 338118, the account number 338128 (with Escaler as holder) received capital in return in several transfers. Two important transfers took place from this last account in favor of a company named Swordtail Limited, which is the holder of an account in BNP Hongkong.
10.Finally, USD833,000 went back from Swordtail Limited account to the Lucky Clover Enterprise Ltd. Account.
Given all these facts, supported by documents coming from Switzerland, the citizenry is puzzled why no action has been taken thereon either individually or collectively by the Office of the President, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman.” Chavez asked this question three years ago.
Unlike the repeal of the death penalty that Arroyo cannot undo after the trip, the charges against Perez can be dismissed later on. Brilliant script. Shady agenda.

Come now, the filing of charges by Ombudsman to Nani Perez is certainly connected to this Switzerland trip. It’s like in going to the Vatican when the death penalty was lifted. Do we know if there’s an scheduled trip to US? Baka ito rin ang dahilan on Smith’s abrupt spiriting to US embassy.
The pattern is getting curiouser and curiouser.
The reason we need to know the whereabout of Mike Arroyo is to check on his activities. He might be currently in Swizz again. As citizens, we have the right to know his activities especially if these involved people’s money. Mike Arroyo cannot say he should not be monitored claiming he is a private citizen. He is a public figure being the spouse of the President. Lalo na may mga bintang sa kanya sa pagnanakaw at iba pang anomalya. Kailangan natin malaman kung nasaan siya at ano ang ginagawa ngayon.
To be honest, now I am not really surprised why so many alleged wrongdoings(corruptions, frauds, extortions, secret commissions, illegal wheeling dealings) were not resolved with “guilty verdicts” or some or many have not even been dealt with is because of the defective process among others.
First, there are many bodies or agencies doing the same work. Then the Senate and Executive, whose duty are making laws and the other executing the law, are also playing Judiciary. And before, the case even get to the courts, the opposition politicians and the government already acting prosecutors, defense lawyers, juries and judges.
And here again, Senator Lacson proposing to revive the investigation that should have been investigated by the Police long ago and may have gone to the very details by now. But if Ping and the oppositions really want to get some results and may help them with legislation that the same ‘sanamagans’ will never happen again, He should call for a no-holds -barred Independent Judicial Inquiry to look after not just this Nani Perez, but including the Joc-Joc and and in General the Culture of Corruptions and figured out why they did happen and keep happening time and time and time again, and again come up with a little better process of investigating, and prosecuting these plunderers and extortionists and put a stop on this never ending charade…

Now that Lacson wants to revive the IMPSA investigation, expect Malacanang to revive his Kuratong Baleleng case even if this has been dismissed several times. Kanya-kanyang diskarte. But as soon as the Scandal surfaced by the combination of Auditor’s Report and the Investigative Media reporting, the Police got into action and the Government of the Day, the same Liberal under PM Paul Martin called for Judicial Inquiry headed by Justice Gomery. On that inquiry, everyone involved, including PM Chretien, Paul Martin and the rest of the Cabinets and Officials were called before as material witnesses. No-holds-barred and no sacred cows.
The results; criminal charges were filed for those criminally involved; politicians who were not doing their job monitoring the project, quit in disgrace and the most important was the passing of the New Accountability Bill that will make it harder to repeat such Scandal for more than another hundred years.

The Canadian Government did everything about the Couple who went to Mexico for their daughter wedding short of taking the investigation themselves, which is not their responsibilities. The victims family have no complaints about how our government treated the incident.
As for the young Man you mentioned above, the body will be flown home tomorrow and the autopsy will be done by the Ontario Coroner to determine the cause of death. As of this momnent, the cause of death is not known yet. The Mecican police said it was a case of hit and run (traffic) while the victims family said it was from beatings.
I assure you the authorities here are doing their best when dealing with a foreign country, without much fanfare.
The timing of the Ombudsman news release on ex-DOJ chief Nani Perez extortion case is nothing but public relations. It’s another GMA squid tactics to cover-up real issues surrounding her corrupt administration. I think nobody is buying Mark Jimenez’ spin on Impsa $14 M bribery deal. Placing personalities aside, not that I don’t realise they matter, the first thing is that we have to have a group of police investigators that are not only trained for the task of uncovering corruption in the government agencies but just as important the group of police must be able to act independently from other government agencies reporting to the head of the DILG only. If we have a trustworthy head of the DILG and a highly trained, organised, honest group of police who are dedicated to their work, that is a starting point. But at the same time we separate the PNP & AFP and place the later in their barracks. In other successful countries the police control all forms of civil law and order, their military have nothing to do with it. If we take a look at London and their police, it was formed in 1829 by Sir Robert Peel as an independent police force, never having involved the military in their function, and became the best police service in the world. Sooner or later the military and PNP must be separated so that law & order moves forward in this country. I realise theres a power struggle between the heads of AFP & PNP but all the more reason it has to be done, as a start.
Furthermore, its on record that the UK Prime Ministers young son was arrested for being drunk in a public place less than a mile from where he lived with his parents (10 Downing Street no less) and taken to the nearest police station cell. No cover-up because it wouldn’t be allowed. We can be professional as that here, but we have to have the balls to start it and separate the PNP & AFP period.
What conclusions can we draw here?
First, the mafia brains behind Gloria’s administration thinks the filing of this case will make it appear that government is finally tightening its noose against corruption hoping to get nice pats on the back from the US and Europe. This, while the crimes of gang masterminds Bonnie and Clyde Arroyo and the likes of Jocjoc the Worm, Garci the Phonepal, Sabit the Collector and the Junior Don, seem inexistent.
Second, they think can now spend (pocket?) to the last penny the $20 million (P1B) US aid for the ombudsman under Bush’s Millenium Challenge Account. To them, Perez IS a big fish and therefore considered as significant compliance to the terms of the aid.
Third, they think that by downgrading the charges from money laundering and plunder to extortion and graft, they are actually doing Perez a favor, enough to keep his mouth shut. They also save MJ’s skin, and they firewalled the Arroyo couple to safety. A win-win-win here. They thought.
Fourth, they likewise got Mark Jimenez by the balls. The case downgrade is quid pro quo, Jimenez gets sweet revenge with Nani without self-inflicting damage, the palace gets awesome philantropic generosity from MJ. In bribery cases, he is as guilty as Perez, being the bribe source. Not too fast. Jimenez and Villarama’s reckless privelege speeches in congress are on record and have automatically co-implicated Jimenez with bribery and the “Malacañang residents”, too.
Fifth, there is now an official reason to be in Switzerland. The last time around, they stopped by because the EU governments they hoped to visit were all very busy – watching football. The second tranche of dollars to be deposited?
Sixth, they believe it will improve GMA’s image as it appears her gov’t is now “morally consistent” (I love that phrase!) in keeping its commitments to treaties and agreements – recently, VFA, now this MLA on Criminal Matters.
They can think and believe as they please, but the nagging question, still, is: Who believes them?

I don’t believe any decent foreign leaders support or respect the current Philippines administration. Formality maybe, as a matter of diplomatic protocol, but I noticed lately most other leaders (except few of her kinds) ever give notice to Gloria’s presence, now that they are getting the ‘ongoings’ internally.
WWNL, I agree with you that all enforcement of the laws should be left to the police authorities, independent from all partisanships. It should start at making the Police as professional as could be without political bearings and the Military should be what it is, soldiers.
And once the case is in the hands of the Police and of the courts, the politicians should have nothing to do with them, not even “smart” comments from them, otherwise that could be interference in the process. I dont know why people kept on believing that malacanang will not interfere in the perez case??? how many times did they say that, only to find out that they influenced the decision of the courts, commissions, fact find bodies, etc.etc. tsk, tsk, tsk……

Leviste could have shot his man in anger. Tauhan niya ito kaya mas believable na si Leviste ang bumaril dahil sa galit o lasing. Proceeding to hospital instead of being locked up in jail is another common trick. While the case is being investigated, he would be in a hospital suite enjoying all the comfort a VIP gets. Ganyan din si Abra Gov. Valera. Ang defense niya wala daw siya sa pangyayari nang mapatay si Congressman. Unless the one who pulled the trigger surfaces and admits to the crime, mahirap ma-convict si Valera based on the testimony of just one person. That’s how our justice system works in the Philippines. The question here are why are those people carrying guns in person? This is one law that should be examined carefully. The permit to carry weapons in person is a very serious that even in most states, where Americans have the right to bear arms, carrying weapons in person are not allowed for private citizens.
Although we have the privilege to own and possess firearms of any kind (except for full auto and small pistols, and few specific firearms)with no limit as to the quantity as can be justifiably safely stored, We are not allowed to carry firearms in person for self-defense or protection and they are to be disabled when at home or during transport. At least the Cops kwew that those carrying are committing crimes (carrying of prohibitive weapons, a very serious offense_). And if you are found out to be mentally unstable, the privilege is suspended or dis-allowed.
Even security guards are not allowed and so our soldiers. Only cops and armored guards. So in a fight, either you run away or fight it out with words. Of course this not mean that all will abide by the law, just yesterday there were quite a few shooting incidents just around the corner.
Also this law allow only those who can afford to pay the license to carry fees and the rich to be able to arm themselves, therby another form of discrimination. And if the poor can only have knives, then the fight is not even. And chances are the rich and the wealthy can always use the often abused alibi of Self-Defense to get away from Murder. And perhaps a good amount of Blood Money. And that is not Justice.
i think it is not allowed also in the pinas to carry guns in person except when they have it at home or in practice. but law is one thing and practice is another thing in the pinas. those who abide by the law get shot and those who do not are the ones who shoot.

In the spirit of the season, Gloria Arroyo (GMA) and her political allies recently initiated a “cha-cha ceasefire” and called on all Filipinos to work for unity in 2007 “to secure the country’s economic future”.

Lacson indicated that the Senate probe should not only concentrate on the $2 million alleged bribe money received by Perez but the entire supposed $14 million payoff that was purportedly made by the Argentine firm Impsa to some government officials.
Former solicitor general Frank Chavez says many money movements from different sources and banks abroad from the numbered account of Ernest Escaler, who has been identified as the conduit, the complete banking documents cannot lie. Its my opinion that one reason a swiss businessman is in a huddle with them maybe their sheer panic.
It now appears that the reason why Malacanang decided to charge Nani Perez was to implicate President Estrada. Please take note of the recent statements; puro pangalan ni Erap ang binabanggit ngayon. Noon, ni minsan ay hindi binanggit ni Mark Jimenez si Erap. When Erap said he was being given $14 Million but he refused, MJ didn’t come out and deny Erap’s statement. Bakit ngayon pati si Erap sinasama niya? Malinaw po ang strategy. Charge Perez so that Erap’s name would be implicated. Erap is currently the undisputed leader of the united opposition. Election is near. Mahirap pa ba isipin kung bakit ginagawa nila (Malacanang) ito ngayon?

I concur to your post cocoy. we do have a Phjilippine Cultural Centre, smacked in the Popolous ddowntown area, and the last time a read a local newspaper, two groups of Pinoys here have some legal case regarding the administration of the centre. I said why can’t they settle these arguments among themselves, instead of getting into the paper and the courts? I just can’t be bothered.

Hi folks: Here’s for your entertainment. Does anybody believe that this case against Nani Perez is for real? He/She must be the most naive and gullible person in the whole Philippines, indeed, in the world. In the end all these bogus people will whitewash the whole thing and without shame declare it the triumph of truth and justice. They’re all in it together. It’s sickening. How do these people sleep at night.

Nani slams Gutierrez for playing prober and prosecutor
FORMER justice secretary Hernando Perez yesterday asked the Ombudsman to reconsider its decision recommending the filing of charges of extortion, graft, and falsification of public documents against him, his wife Rosario, brother in law Ramon Arceo and business associate Ernest Escaler.
He assailed Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez for taking on the roles of investigator and prosecutor in the case, “a role foreign to her in a preliminary investigation.”
The Ombudsman‘s recommendations stemmed from the case filed by former Manila Rep. Mark Jimenez who accused Perez of extorting $2 million from him in February 2001.
Jimenez said he was forced to pay up to stop Perez from harassing him and forcing him to implicate officials of the Estrada administration in irregularities.
Jimenez was then brokering a power contract between the Arroyo government and an Argentinean firm. The contract was eventually approved after Perez issued a favorable legal opinion on it.
Perez, in the motion for reconsideration, also criticized Gutierrez for the delay in the resolution of the case.
“According to her, there was delay because of the complexities of the issues raised and because of difficulty of obtaining documents. The issues became complicated because the Ombudsman went out of her way and beyond her role in a preliminary investigation,” he said.
“She took it upon herself to prove what the complainant Mario B. Crespo a.k.a. Mark Jimenez failed to do. She became not only the investigator, but also the prosecutor, a role foreign to her in a preliminary investigation,” he said.
He said the Ombudsman even committed error of facts in saying, for example, that Arceo is brother of his wife.

Thanks Adawning. The best thing that Filipinos can do right now is not to be complacent but on the look out. Better still, they should continue those protests and rallies in the Philippines just to prove to the world that a great majority of Filipinos do not tolerate this bogus government that unfortunately cannot be removed as yet. But let them not despair. Nature has a way of going after these crooks. God will not allow them to prevail. Right now, there seems to be a need for some internal cleaning that this delay of removing these crooks seem accomplishing as a matter of fact.
Pabayaan nating magsabunutan ng buhok ang mga kuratong, and then see, who among them will come out unscathed. Meanwhile, let’s continue to pray for all Filipino voters to be wiser this coming election that the idiots in the government even boast of being more bloody than usual. If that is not stupidity, what is? It is the duty of the police there to make sure the election is clean and violence-free.

In a privilege speech in 2002, Mark Jimenez, then a Manila congressman. said that Perez had demanded that he execute an affidavit against cronies of Estrada, which would be used against them if they would not support Ms Arroyo in the 2004 presidential election.
Jimenez said that when he refused, Perez cursed and threatened him in front of his wife at his home in Forbes Park in Makati City in the third week of January 2001, or shortly after Ms Arroyo came to power.
Someone said, the reason Perez went to Jimenez fuming mad was because he found out that the amount from IMPSA was $14 million. He was looking for the missing $ 7 million. Nadidal siya!
Before Perez, I think it was Sec. Tuquero at the DOJ who served under Erap. Siguro may alam din si Tuquero. He should be invited to shed light on this.

At least I admire your honesty when you are prepared to admit there is a crab mentality thinking, most pretend it does nor exist. As for readily filing cases against each other when abroad (filipino to filipino) maybe comes from the filipino local system of mostly seeking assistance from the barangay officers to settle a simple argument. I guess its quite normal for filipinos to group together when they move to another country, just as most cities in the world have a ‘China Town’ with the chinese, but again the difference seems to be those with a chinese background assist each other particularly in business whereas the filipino fiercely compete even to the extent of causing the other to be bankrupt. I can only guess that you have mixed with other nationalities experiencing different cultures, which has given you a greater understanding of people.

Could you find out if Rowena Bengzon (is this the correct spelling of her name?) is part of the Gloria’s emminent entourage for the Davos trip?
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the moral midget ruler of the Philippine islands is considered a pariah in international circles.
Foreign leaders may shake her hands (i.e, Helsinki summit), smile at her (i.e., her meeting with Barroso in EU), do harmless chit-chat with her, reminiscent of the so-called 10-minute tête-a-tête with her in Vietnam, but in reality, they realize that she is one of the worst living “foreign leaders” in Asia.
They may not say it to her face but they realize that under her fake watch, the Philippines is one of the most corrupt countries that side of the world.
They also know that the Philippines has one of the worst human rights problems in that region in spite of its so-called democratic exercises.
In Europe, the image of the Philippines has suffered from bad to worse under primitive Arroyo’s watch – Pinas has gone down further as a no-entity kind of nation with nothing to boast of except for its human export as its main industry.
Whatever Gloria does is suspect as far as Europe goes but only the Filipinos can change that. Don’t count on international leaders to change that for Pinas. Topple Arroyo and Philippine image might change.
It’s Romela Bengzon. I’ll see but I don’t know anybody in charge of the foreign trips of Gloria Arroyo.
BTW, there was a text message going around about two weeks ago that Bengzon and her husband have filed petition for annulment of their marriage.

Well, technically RP govt needs ink to print passports, paper money, so-called tamper-proof documents, etc.
Re Paper: Pinas gets them normally from French supplier.
Central Bank has a huge budget for the purchase of paper and ink, I mean simply COLOSSAL (and this is normal) so whoever is brokering for the supply will make lots of money, I mean lots! Up until 1998, the French suppliers of paper to Central Bank was done trhough the same broker (agent) but they might have changed following Gloria’s ascent to power. The CB monetary board will have a hand in decisions pertaining to acquisition.
I suggest you search for the biggest agent the French company SAGEM uses in Pinas (they got a few) to try to find out who their influence broker is in Malacanang – then you have the trail!
Ellen, I’ll ask someone (an alikabok) to try to find out if Bengzon is with the trip. Problem is if she goes to Davos, it could be on her own, privately that is and not as part of the official entourage. She could be invited by the Swiss or the French industrialists, hence, her name doesn’t have to appear on the official list, particularly if she is not officially a GOVERNMENT employee.

Emmental ain’t the best cheese in the world but it is quite eatable plus the glamour they attach to their products in the same manner, the Swiss ain’t the most honest people in the world.
But of course, they are highly disciplined when it comes to management of money, illegaly acquired or not, eg., NAZI hoardings and money illegaly taken away from the Jewish as well as funds deposited in their banks for money laundering purposes. Strict adherence to rules of banking secrecy is still their most effective and enviable modus operandi, more than any other foreign banks in Europe, 2nd only to international Lebanese banks. Why do you think they (the Swiss) are and will remain neutral? Such a naturally poor nation, natural resources’ wise, can only thrive on other means of generating wealth.
Swiss bankers will have no scrupules hiding or investing illegally acquired money for as long as nobody cries “Wolf!”, i.e., through legal proceedings.

It is up to Filipinos to scrutinize the contents of this proposed defence pact with Australia to make sure the custody provision is cleared up. There is always a high risk of the Smith case happening, i.e., rape or whatever.
Filipinos must be vigilant, they must re-examine the provisions before it is ratified by Congress. Once in place and ratified, offending provisions, lopsided provisions, one-sided provisions will form part and parcel of the treaty – no amount of crying wolf will change them – so better be on the lookout today than afterwards.

About your individual assessment of the incumbent senators and the senatorial candidates, agree po ako sa karamihan sinabi mo. Si Vic Sotto naman naging Vice Mayor siya ng QC bago naging Senador. I think he performed well in QC. As a senator, I admit he was not the best but not the worst. Kung ikumpara sa mga tulad ni Lito Lapid at kahit na itong si maarteng Jamby Madrigal, mas okay naman si Sotto. Kung ano ang diskarte at racket niya, hindi ko alam. Lahat naman ng pulitiko may kanya-kanyang diskarte. Iyon nga lang po, may garapal at may pino.
Jinggoy a better legislator? Not really. I was told that when he became a Senator, he took many of the bills made by former senators who had already finished their terms or did not get re-elected. Inarbor or kinopya niya ang ilan mga bills na gawa ng iba. There were some that were discovered to be exactly the same. That’s why he was called Mr. Xerox. Okay naman si Jinggoy at siguro naman gusto lang pa-impress noon. One thing he needs to change is his bad temper. Senator na siya at kailangan naman huwag pormang siga at palaaway.
It’s the same criticism about Richard Gomez who desperately wants to run. Si Noynoy, he represents the Yellow Group (Cory Aquino). Marami pa naman Corysta ngayon. Ang iba nasa kampo na ni Arroyo like this Raul Gonzalez. Noynoy’s involvement in Hacienda Luisita murders would haunt him in the campaign. Kaya naman siya nilagay sa opposition ticket instead of Tessie Oreta dahil compromise iyan sa grupo ni Cory. Mas gusto ko pang si Butz Aquino na matagal nang nasa opposition. Si Noynoy itong huli na. Would his inclusion in the opposition ticket affect the opposition? I don’t know. Pero ang mga tao puwede naman bumoto kung sinong gusto nila. A rejection of some controversial candidates doesn’t mean they like the administration or dislike President Erap. I don’t agree with this notion that if they don’t vote for certain opposition candidates, that means they don’t like Erap. Hindi po ganyan. Gaya ng lagi kong sinasabi, sa politics ay puro compromise. You cannot please everyone.
I get your point, Anna. They’re good at hyping and hiding things..as a strategy for survival. Hmmm…reminds me of somebody back here.

Like you, am wondering why Gloria has to attend the WEF forum. I don’t really quite see the reason why Gloria needs to attend the WEF in Davos – it could be attended by any of RP’s economic ministers or trade chiefs. They don’t need her there. She has nothing to contribute to any of the topics that will be tackled there.
What is really on her Davos agenda? To report that the Philippine economic situation is better than at anytime because there are at least EIGHT MILLION Filipinos abroad working their butts out, sending money back home to prop up her government and in so doing, the dollars they send augment the dollar reserves of the country (to service debt interests and to service more corruption)?
Will she take to the rostrum in Davos to announce that the pillar of her government is the annual export of 1,000,000 Filipinos abroad because THERE ARE NO JOBS IN THE COUNTRY?
Let me reiterate that in any civilized nation, that kind of announcement to serve as backbone of a government’s survival will see the downfall of that nation’s leader-politician! Imagine Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac, George Bush, Angela Merkel, etc. announcing to their people that they have to export people because THEY CANNOT CREATE JOBS in their own country?
The Brits, French, Americans, Germans will hang their leaders upside down. It is really mindboggling why Filipinos allow Gloria to get away with this kind of social murder… Really gobsmacking in the extreme.

By the way, while in HK-although most of the time, in the hotel for meetings, I bumped into a government official who told me, during the course of the conversation that Gloria is having difficulty coming up with her Magic 12 for the Senatoriable line-up..although, admittedly, 4 to 5 of the Senatoriables who were asked to run in her ticket have said yes to her, when in reality are hard put-because they know their chance of winning is slim..
After the sale of a utility company recently, a Mike Arroyo “tuta” asked if there was “for the boys”..sickening !

Gloria is a waste of precious ration.
She is the one single biggest reason why the Philippines doesn’t enjoy the respect of Europe.
Ask any European worthy of note about their impression of Pinas – they’re likely to say, its domestic helpers, labourers and technicians who can be hired for a fraction of what other labourers ask. Virtually every single expat in the EU capital boasts of having a Pinoy or Pinay as domestic labourer.
Nothing wrong with being at the bottom of the totem pole of hired foreign help but when Pinas is known largely for that and couple that reputation with “because Pinas leaders starting from its president and her family are some of the most corrupt people in the world” ) whose crimes could be considered as serious as those committed by drug dealers, sex trafickers, and lawless elements in Zimbabwe, Haiti and in countries in West Africa, – foreign “admiration” for Pinoy labourers outside Pinas ain’t exactly the thing Pinoys in Pinas can be proud of.
Those Pinoy govt officials who will be in Davos must not delude themselves into thinking that their economist (Gloria) is worth the Swiss ground she will be walking on in Davos.
Kulang sa Atensyon. US doesn’t want her visit. A very negative image of her in significant Europe. Africa does not know her (heheh). Switzerland has always been neutral as long as money comes in. Glueria is taking chance that Swiss will take notice of her.
Kawawa naman. How could she catch attention in Davos with 2000 participants? Nagsusumiksik talaga. She’s too small, literally and physically, for the important occasion.
