Its not anybody’s fault but the PRC’s. This policy of Pandak to send our people abroad for employment is the culprit why some had to resort to cheating just to get a job elsewhere.

Tedan’s is right, mas garapal pa itong si Pandak keysa kay Marcos. And we thought Marcos is the father of cronyism.

The country really needs Cha-Cha, “character change”, we need to overhaul not the system but the people running the system. The Pandak and JDV may continue to blame the senate for the political gridlock but what is clear is she created the gridlock to cover up her lying, cheating and stealing.

The PRC stole whatever future these poor kids worked so hard for. Studying for 5 years and another year to review is very draining. Now they are the ones paying for the crime someone else committed. Just imagine the trauma this fiasco will leave on the kids and their parents. The expense of sending these kids to school all wasted by this administration who continues to push its people abroad.

  4. “A nation of cheaters!”
That’s what people think of Pinoys these days….

    Sana!

Philippines is known around the world as the world supplier of super atsays, then, a country to be governed by cheaters, liars, thieves and a bogus president, and now we will be known to be a nation of bogus nurses. Another honor added to the numerous reputations of the country. Our country is being put in the world map not because of its success or achievements especially in world affairs, but because, of its success internationally in exporting its people to be the slaves of foreign masters, and these bogus nurses in the very near future will be among them. Thanks to the Glue who took pride in her only accomplishment in running this corrupt government.

Forgot to say that the Philippines, since 1986 has been known to be “a country where the presidents are conceived to be robbers and thieves.” Nakakahiya talaga. Buti na lang, I can hide under my Japanese name!

Bad influence talaga! Tone from the top, wika nga nila.

  11. @mb: NGITING ASO ba? [*LOL!*]

either way, wlang kuwenta ang mukha ni glue.

    quesehodang sumimangot, o ngumiti:
    parehas lang: HINDI mapagkakatiwalaan!

Hers is a face no one can trust!

    Bwahahahaha!!!!

Pinatubo.

Talk of the sins of the fathers being visited on the children even of the forth generation!!! Nasa Bible iyan sa totoo lang!

Just who is the Pandak trying to fool and impress with her lies about some thieves being rich?! Patunayan nga niya kung papaano nawala ang pundo ng OWWA, etc. o kahit na iyong perang ibinigay ng Coca-Cola for education in 2001. Alam ko na hindi iyong tinanggap ni Roco who was the education secretary at that time. Ipaliwanag nga niya! 😡

    Mandarambong! Baba ka na!

  13. @ystakei: SEEMS to me, ang magnanakaw at limitado sa Malacanang at sa galamay ng pang-ULO ng mga may “magnetic na kamay”/ at least in and around the place where I live, ang mga magnanakaw ay mga brasilieros. They also get involved in tragic accidents, hence naghigpit ang mga pulis sa International Driving Permits. Madalang ang Pinoy na magnanakaw dito. A few years back, may mga nahuling Pinoy dahilan sa droga at OT….

Sa ibang bansa, ang Philippine Embassy ang nagbabayad according to the embassy staff that I have talked to.

How much money was made from the leakage? Follow the money trail and you’ll be surprised where it leads to …

  17. @ystakei:
NOW that you’ve mention it, recently may mga nahuling prosti na mga taga Mainland China. Marami sila at expired na ang visa. Yung iba nmn may mga visa-student-daw pero nagtratrabaho sa gabi; I have classmates rin naman na mga matino, and some are kind….
MY place is the hub of brasiliero/as nikkeijins. Sobrang dami! They are everywhere, becoz this place is a gold mine for those who want to work.
…..and they usually get into accidents and all those crimes.
Yeah, I have heard of fake papers also, including those who come from Davao….
    >>>>nagmana kay gloria?

  18. artsee artsee

    I am just stating a fact as i find it here;

    Ikaw ang nagko-conclude, my dear….

Hwag tayo mag-away. I am definitley NOT fighting with you nor with anyone here….
Gua chushiya, pero bwehyawkong nannan hwe….
My father’s mother comes from Taiwan. His father is Japanese.
Hindi tayo magkalaban. Magkakampi tayo laban kay gloria, remember?

    Cool ka lang, Ahiya!

  20. artsee artsee

Re: Taiwan: Most of my kamag-anaks are already there and investing overseas, particularly Taipeh and Kaohshiung….

While I take care of my Lolo here ,who is already old. FILIAL connection kaya ako nandito, but I will go back to Inang Bayan when the ripe time comes….

    GoodLuck sa iyo dyan, artsee!

  23. art: HINDI ao si anna.
I have my Chinese name as well as my Japanese name. Pero iba ang gamit na Christian name. I am sure you know why….

    Konti lang alam kong Chinese.

I respect both worlds, aside from my respect for the Philippines na nag-alaga sa Tatay ko nung nanduon pa siya.

Kaya nasa gitna ako sa inyo dito…and it is difficult, indeed!
I have always endeavoured to live a clean life….and a clean heart. Maybe it can be gleaned from one’s writings, don’t you think?

  24. norpil norpil

  25. fencesitter fencesitter

artsee, observation lang… you seem to have the penchant of touching freely on sensitive issues on race (calling one an intsik or hapon or kano or negro sounds very socially inappropriate). payong kapatid lang, don’t do that to others because only racists do that. and racists no longer thrive in civilized society. actually pare-pareho tayong lahat sa mata ng dakilang maykapal.

that is the problem besetting the country today, hence, unity is an elusive dream. we are regionalistic. pag ilokano ang nasa malakanyang… lahat ng biyaya doon lahat napupunta sa ilokos. pag kapampangan… ganon din lahat ng biyaya unahin muna ang kapampangan. if there’d be leftover, a pittance of it will be for the other regions to share.

i am really amazed at how some people get used to calling names. when i grow up a young kid in negros occidental, i often hear children my age calling a physically handicapped playmate: Hoy Libat (duling) laro tayo!; or Hoy Piang (pilay) saan ka pupunta?; or Hoy Punga (ngongo) saan ka galing?

these childlike actuations are ordinary scenes happening in the presence of parents and old barrio folks all the time but who seem so oblivious of the children’s misbehavior. i never heard anyone correcting a child that it is bad not to call one by his name. maybe it did not occur to them that these young ones were exhibiting inappropriate social behavior. of course in the barrio, you do not talk about the finer points of social etiquette. people there then and now are much preoccupied of their own daily survival.

only now did i realize that we cannot really give what we do not have. oo nga naman kung wala o kulang sa pinag aralan ang mga matatanda, ano nga naman ang kabutihang asal ang pwede nyang ituro sa nakakabata? it is so sad, because as years go by our social values is still on a steady decline. so how can we ever promote and teach the art of building a nation?

  26. fencesitter:

    Nic one!
I’ve been wanting to do that, but bcoz o my heritage which is a combination of sorts, I didn’t bother…I guess it’s a sin of ommission on my part.

Not that I am justifying my silence on the matter, but “that” race thing has been an issue since I was a child growing in Manila and attending school.

Ours was a difficult one, having to explain the nationality of my Father whose love for the Philippines remain unequalled even by most Pinoys I know.

“Intsik ka!” Tsina ka!” have been reeverberating over and over in my ears when our neighbors start talking…Maybe they perceived us as Chinese, becoz of the surname we used….

Since we have opened this discourse, allow me to say that badmouthing a race, is not a good start if we want to fight the evil one [who remains entrenched by the Pasig].

Both ways, nasasaktan ako, kasi half-half ang lahi ko….
I have a Filipina mother and a Japanese Father whose roots is also half: I consider myself Pinay since I was raised and reared in Inang Bayan.

Allow me to request mr. artsee then, to please refrain from badmouthing the Japanese. Saying “sakang” and all that never brings one good luck, does it? Besides, “sakang” remains as old as my Lolo [even if he isn’t “sakang”, anyway!]. If he has anything against the government of Japan, it should be addressed at the proper forum, e.g., the website of the Japanese government.

Thanks fencesitter for the chance to say my piece on this matter, and the owner of the blog for not deleting my side.

  27. norpil norpil

it was nice to read the answer to fencesitter of taipan88, though the comment of fencesitter was directed to artsee. knowing each other’s background gives also a lot of understanding on each side. i hope i am right when i say that it will be difficult to find a pure filipino, for what is that. biologists believe that mixed races produce the best of the races involved.

  28. Fencesetter:

It’s Philippine tradition to name names. It was how they distinguish one another before they adopted the western culture of having surnames. In fact, majority of the Filipinos were called “de” or of what hacienda before they were made to choose a surname in 1848 unless they have had foreign parents like those Spanish mestisos recognized by their fathers, or my maternal grandfather whose family carried the family name of his great, great grandfather even before 1848, a few years before he was born. Then the tradition was carried over even now as when a Filipina would not even be able to pronounce properly the name of her Japanese husband but call him “Tandang Malibog”! 😛

So, what’s wrong about calling especially a bogus president names, who does not deserve any respect from anyone who is willing to abide by the rule or law?

My parents in fact hid the fact that we had Japanese ancestry until the time when Japan and the Philippine restored normal ties, but I remembered the place we lived in just after I was born and people were very hostile to us.

My uncles left the Philippines earlier than my father jus like many of the Nikkeijin who were driven out of the Philippines after WWII. If you were born after the 1964 Olympic Games, you are luckier.

In the USA, it is only now that Japan has better reception than what they Americans would even offer Filipinos except on Dec. 7 (8 in the Philippines) when they remember Pearl Harbor. Over there, we are either Filipino or Eurasian with my mother being part British, part Cantonese and part Spanish Filipino (actually Basque origin).

Suwerte pa rin tayo in a way. My father and his siblings had sad experiences being called “Ainoko” and not being truly accepted because they were not pure.

Once I had a friend, an Afro-American who was very disappointed with the Filipinos, whom he described as very racists!

However, sometimes, you can’t help being one. When I was a little girl, I saw a native Filipino boy being beaten by a Chinese who was using him as a delivery boy. I was very angry and felt sorry for the Filipinos. Foreigners pinababayaang maghari-harian sa bansa nila.

It is one thing that a Chinese cannot do to a Japanese in Japan for sure! Kundi saradong bugbog siya ng mga hapon. Call it protecting their own kind. At least, the Japanese do that!

  30. @ norpil:

I felt I have to answer becoz directly or not, I felt alluded to every time the word “Hapon” or “Haponesa” or “sakang” [even if I posses fairly good legs!]….

I guess I have to make a statement once and for all, to put some things in their place.

And THANK YOU, for and others who understand that being a Filipino means one coming from mixed races. That, I believe, makes the Filipino unique in every way. Salamat po!

    @ystakei:
Yes, we, too, have to hide behind the Chinese name of my father’s mother in order to live peacefully in Inang Bayan.

And YES, we were often the butt of jokes and bullying even in school becoz of our family name.
Even in the DFA, and the Immigration, we often come across those who barely noticed us and who made life difficult esp. in procuring Philippine passports becoz we had “foreign-sounding surnames”…..

We were Pinoys becoz my Nanay remained adamant that we be raised as Pinoys. They weren’t married until we reached Japan, so that radical change can be made here and make us follow after my Tatay’s citizenship.

  31. Mrivera Mrivera

Eh, iyong wardrobe mistress niya kaya? Baka maging extortionist na ang labas sa huli, i.e., forcing couturiers to make clothes for free perhaps?

At the rate Gloria dons new clothes daily, she will have spent more than the late Princess Diana in make-up, hairdressing and apparel costs… and where does she get the money to pay for all her vain luxuries? Either she pays for them herself (How?, I don’t know coz a presidential salary ain’t big enough to spend on her vanitous needs), steals the money from the State coffers or she extorts services and goods from local fashion people… Take your pick.

Problem is wala namang improvement on her apperance, once pangit inside, pangit din on the outside no matter how many thousands of clothes she changes into and kilos of make up and hair spray she spreads on her face and hair! She will never be mabango because the stink and stench are so deep inside that no amount of body lotion or scent she wears will eradicate the stench she exudes.

She is unfortunately, not only a physical bansot, she’s worse, a moral bansot through and through. No amount of agrandisement in appearance and spirit will alter her image.

She’s as corrupt as only Dorian Gray could be.

Yucky! 🙁

hahaha!!! reading frm the previous entries..yes, i stated before as wat taipan mentioned…we here who are with multi-culture/racial backgrounds should jst think of how our ancestors mistakes can be learned frm…i mentioned that calling someone intsik is synonymous to calling an african-american nigger…i never fail to tell my filpino friends that bec i care na hindi naman sila mapahiya or masupalpal…some people find racial issues very sensitive…i jst shrug it off..”u ho-u phai” as they say in chinese(this means “ders goodness and worst in things”. this is in fookien not mandarin. am limited to my mandarin, although i can understand 95% and cantonese 80%)…am also chu-siya as my dad is chinese and my mom is part spanish filipino n my kids also mix blood. thus i have explained to them of these name calling issues. i am amazed that fencesitter knws this. few filipinos know that “instik” is a derogatory word..also like Chao-huwan..as what some ignorant chinese would call Filpinos but this comes out when a kababayan is exhibiting manners like that of super-barbaric attitudes…it is also so true that there is no true filipino excerpt maybe for our aeta brothers na pinapabayaan ng mga gobyerno na kasi wala silang nakikitang pakinabang kaya ine-etchapwera..

Napakahirap ipagtanggol bilang isang Pilipino na nasa ibang bansa kapag ang kapwa mo expatriate na sabihing “Cheating is the way of life in the Philippines!”

I must admit that I’m hard on Supermaid Gloria Arroyo, only because I despise her corrupt behavior along with her family. It’s the rotten system, culturally acceptable even before Gloria stole Malacanang. Surely, the system need to be overhauled, our ways and attitude toward the future need to be changed for good if we are to make something of ourselves. And Leonor Tripon-Rosero is just another part of this obnoxious corrupt system, the kumpadri/kumari obsolete institution. It has been with us ever since the katipuneros revolted against the realm of Spain. Up to the present, we haven’t really made an honest sincere move to change a failed system, instead we’ve been taking the short cut and now many of us has been paying for such negligent of our future. We have been bitching and complaining that the system ain’t working, yet we let those corrupt to make a fool of us and the Republic. Even our many kababayans has been mute and deaf, blind in many cases are willing to let Gloria get away with murder knowing fully well that Supermaid Gloria is without honor nor integrity, a liar, cheater and thief. And Leonor without to many options living in the Philippines, like many others are caught on this disgusting dishonest institution of ours. Would you blame her of what she become?

We must take all the blame like the Leonors of the country. But fake Gloria must shoulder the blame even more since she stole the leadership from a legitimate President. Fake Gloria must be punished if we’ve to change for the better and Gloria should be the starting point.

Anti-IMF, World Bank protests switch to Batam

    From News Reports:

Singapore, August 30: More than 2,000 activists who plan protests at next month’s IMF and World Bank conference in Singapore next month will rally on a neighbourning Indonesian island because of the city-state’s banning of demonstrations. Trade unionists, farmers and members of the Jubilee South, a network of non-governmental organisations, plan to demonstrate on Batam, less than an hour by boat from Singapore, participating in a worldwide protest linking 350 activist groups in 74 countries.

“Since Singapore doesn’t respect the rights of people to express their views, we are moving the demonstrations to Batam, where there is more democratic space,” said Jubilee South international coordinator Lidya Nacpil.

The group was already in touch with Indonesia about logistics, she said.

Anti-globalisation activists usually gather at similar international summits, but Singapore will make no exceptions to its ban on demonstrations and has said it will arrest lawbreakers and cane vandals.

Public protests are rare in Singapore.

Any public gathering of more than four people requires a police permit and a person convicted of unlawful assembly can be fined up to S$1,000 ($650).

Caning is commonly used as punishment for offences ranging from vandalism to drugs.

There’s no doubt that Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairman Leonor Tripon-Rosero is a FG Miguel Arroyo crony. She is rewarded for her loyalty. Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is synonymous to CHEATING, FAKE, FRAUD, IMPOSTOR, DECEPTION, EXPLOITATION, KLEPTOCRACY and TRICKERY. Since she grabbed power in 2001 cheating becomes its standards or administration’s standard operating procedure. Mrs. Arroyo filed a false statement of assets and liabilities (SALN) and cheated the government from possible taxable income. Fall guy Iggy Arroyo faked Jose Pidal’s signature to save his big brother Miguel. Former National Archives chief Ricardo Manapat forged presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr.’s birth certificate in attempt to disqualify him on citizenship issue. Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye deliberately presented to the media a doctored Hello Garci disc to mislead the public. Virgilio Garcillano’s dirty works operators faked election certificates of canvass (COC)’s in favor of Gloria Arroyo. Ex- Comelec Commissionaire Garcillano possibly used fake passport in his “great escape” to Singapore. Malacanang sponsored a charter change thru bogus people’s initiative’s petition. Sigaw ng Bayan mercenaries gathered fake signatures including those from long dead residents of San Juan, Manila, Makati City and elsewhere. Even young Palarong Pambansa players are not spared from Gloria Arroyo’s culture of cheating. National games officials fielded ineligible players. They manipulated age limits for qualification or age-cheating. There’s no surprise the recent alleged nursing test cheating because the presence of incompetent and corrupt officials identified with the First Family. Gloria Arroyo poll fraud-cheating is a bad precedent to young generation. Oust Gloria Arroyo! What’s the next option? Take your pick civil disobedience, revolution or election.

ystakei, calling a person his name is different from calling names. the first one is proper and done to properly address or identify a person concerned, the second one is inappropriate because it is derogatory and done purposely to berate or ridicule him. that would be a very unkind and uncharitable act. while it may be true that long before we have adopted a surname our ancestors were using a single word name such as Lapu-lapu, Dagohoy, etc., i did not know that they invented that just for fun. of course, we know that in the provinces or even in selected areas in metro manila, giving a person a second name we call “bansag” is a common practice but they do that purely out of clean fun, not to embarass or berate another.

we can make our discussion here lively and enlightening if we can elevate our discussion a notch higher or maintain proper decorum even if the host here does not impose her house rules. oftenly using expletives to express an idea is just a deeper symptom of a troubled personality overburdened with hosts of unresolved personal issues accumulated in one’s subconscious mind. writing unprintables would not help us find solution to a pressing national problem our national leaders choose to ignore but ordinary citizens like us must solve if we have to survive yet another day of uncertainty.

  56. Ellen,

This is off-topic but I thought I should also post here (or it’s updated version) a message I left in in Jon Mariano’s or John Marzan’s blog re the Fat Man’s German bank account caper after I read your message in one of the said blogs (can’t remember which one).

Here’s what I posted to Jon’s question to John Marzan or vice-versa re “What do you think will happen, etc.”:

My thought is that unless someone (Rep Cayetano in particular) becomes bold and daring, enough to launch a worldwide sleuthing with the help of the OECD and their financial brigades, to track the ownership of the dubious bank account, this latest Fatso Arroyo caper will be swept under the carpets of Gloria’s bedroom, never to see the light of day.

Rep Cayetano could easily send the OECD financial brigade in Germany the elements he’s got without divulging his own sources and could easily ask them to withold his identity. Otherwise, he could anonymosly send the whole bunch of documents to the said brigade that he’s got with a note that the bank account is suspected to contain money sourced from money laundering.

The key term to get action and help from the any member OECD financial brigade is MONEY LAUNDERING!

Technically, if a public official or any member of his/her family is suspected to have committed malversation of state funds or government money or money intended for official public use or that the money was sourced from illegal or undeclared pay-offs constituting bribes or if he/she receives some form of payment from by a foreign company which could be interpreted as having been some kind of a pay-off resulting in a deal beneficial to the said foreign company (headquartered in an OECD member nation) and then diverting said funds to a European bank which is also headquartered in an OECD member nation, the act of diverting the funds by the public official and/or any member of his/her family may be qualified as MONEY LAUNDERING by the OECD financial brigades.

The OECD financial brigades are very low-profile but will act and verify, check and counter-check, patiently collate their info and diligently track the paths leading to the bite. They are extremely powerful and possess virtually blanket legal mandates to track and bring to justice money launderers, get them imprisoned and fined heavily.

Granted that the Fat Guy is untouchable physically because the Philippines has no extradition treaty with members of the European OECD nations, they can still get at him if he’s found guilty because they can freeze all his assets which may be directly or indirectly owned by him or members of his family in Europe if he has any, bar him from stepping into Europe or if he dares show his face here, detained illico. Anyway, once the brigade gets that far, his assets will be tracked down anywhere in the world. In other words, he will know no peace if he is guilty even if he doesn’t land in a European jail.

Once they have their teeth on a public official, they usually don’t let go. But to do that, they need public support and info that they could collate in order to assemble a reasonable amount of proof that MONEY LAUNDERING has been committed.

Rep Cayetano already has a lot of the info and so, could start the ball rolling.

With a bit of faith and patience, his battle may be won for him by the officials in Europe and he need not stake his name dangerously to do it.

  59. Anna,

They can even ask the help of Interpol regarding this as a matter of fact. Cayetano, et al in the Senate do not actually have to go through the DFA or some protocol when asking for the help of the Interpol to investigate on this anomaly especially with the organization against money laundering in Europe tabbing the Philippines as a violator.

Simple lang naman if they already have leads as they claim versus the attempt to condition the minds of the Philippine public that Cayetano, et al are just bluffing and have no valid proofs.

I don’t see why they have to muster courage to do this when they are duty-bound to do so not even for saving faces, but for the sake of justice and truth. I would ask for such documents myself if the deposits were in Japan, and move mountains to expose what need to be exposed as a matter of fact.

  60. Fencesetter:

You bet! Being deliberately insulting is bad manner, but how do you stop these people from doing that when they are here in fact to deliberately mess up the discussions in this blog to make contributors here especially those clamoring for the removal of the Pandak to look stupid and uneducated?

I would rather say, lumang tugtugin na ang tactic ng mga galamay ni Pandak similar to how the Gonggongzales labels UP students protesting against his benefactor without realizing that over at the state university, we are actually not obligated to comply with the establishment especially one that is bogus. Apparently, the gonggong is not from UP.

It’s one reason why I don’t read the contributions of the members of the Pandak’s Internet Brigade assigned to mess up discussions in blogs such as this to avoid putting down myself to their level!!! It is actually not worth replying to these crooks pretending to be anti-Pandak but are here apparently to brainwash Filipinos that they are a helpless and hopeless lot so they may just as well give in to the Pandak and allow her to continue committing impunities against her country and compatriots.

As for the Pandak, her husband and their minions, they deserve the name callings as a matter of fact. I don’t think one is lowering himself to their level when the only way to vent one’s anger is to use profanity in reference to them. I would rather use all kinds of derogatory words in reference to the Pandak than address her as president knowing that she is bogus and has cheated her way to the palace by the murky river. It’s more being truthful and be less a hypocrite that we actually are told not to be!

What is irritating is when they try to take you off the blog, and then make silly insinuations that Ellen has blacklisted you when Ellen is the most reasonable blog owner I have ever met. Bless her soul!

I feel guilty in fact saying those profanities in reference to the Pandak because we are in fact counseled to not use profanities in our church, but there are no words in the dictionary more appropriate to express my sentiments against this crook who would be dead or in prison by now if she were a politician in Japan as when I say “malandi” that is more potent in fact that the English equivalent which is “flirt. “Slut” may do, but still it does not give the same satisfaction as when you use the word “malandi” in Tagalog that the Pandak understand very well especially with all those talks about some adultery being allegedly committed by her and her husband.

Talk of being cruel to be kind!

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  61. This should read: but still it does not give the same satisfaction as when you use the word “malandi” in Tagalog that the Pandak, et al understand very well especially with all those talks about some adultery being allegedly committed by her and her husband.

  62. I should add that you will notice the time element of blogging of these Internet Brigaders. Parang hindi natutulog and you wonder how he/she does it. Then you check and discover that they are one, two or even three to represent an anti-Pandak, pro-Pandak and in-between. It’s actually not difficult to spot them. Ingat na lang because they can send you viruses, bugs, and worms. I advise that you get AVG virus buster to do the cleaning of your PCs of these bugs. I also use Lavasoft’s Spyware to remove the spy ads when getting to blogs such as this.

Matalino si Pandak? No way, but she surely is magaling sa mga ganitong kabulastugan!

  63. Thanks, Fencesitter for this: “we can make our discussion here lively and enlightening if we can elevate our discussion a notch higher or maintain proper decorum even if the host here does not impose her house rules.”

I did not lay down house rules because i take it for granted that we are all civilized people. We don’t have to agree with each other on all issues but we should respect each other’s views.

When I say respect, there should be no name-calling.

And please,if you suspect others of not being on your side, unless you have solid proof against her or him, please give the benefit of the doubt.

let’s not fall into the trap of becoming paranoid.

Bonjour, anna de brux. Pardon my ignorance, but what does OECD stand for?

  65. Chabeli, OECD is Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. It’s composed of 30 member countries sharing a commitment to democratic government and the market economy.

The OECD plays a prominent role in fostering good governance in the public service and in corporate activity.

  66. norpil norpil

it is nice to read arcee’s comments. being older than most in this blog, in addition living abroad for over 30 years and in a very rich country, i will just say that i am not among those who will try to impose on others. on the other hand, when i was younger and idealistic- the dream was to change the world. now i just want to change myself by understanding others.

  67. Chabeli Chabeli

Thank you for your response, Ms. Ellen. Maybe, just maybe, the OECD can help the Philippines in its fight against corrupt officials.

  68. Hi Ellen, Chabeli and fellow commenters,

Disgressing again but still linked somehow to good corporate governance.

I just read Mlq’s link to the Manila Times report about the ICC decision on PIATCO vs RP.

My thought is that MIAA General Manager Alfonso Cusi may be technically right when he said that the arbitration court had no jurisdiction in the country and that Piatco should go to a local court to have the ICC order enforced. But he is being narrow minded.

If Piatco fails to obtain satisfaction from a local court to enfore the ICC decsion, the government of the Philippines will be treading on dangerous grounds. Piatco could go back to the ICC and if the ICC finds that there’s sufficient ground to find the government/MIAA in breach of good faith, they could issue an order to freeze or sequester RP government-owned assets elsewhere. Gloria Macapagal’s goverment has a poor record in terms of honoring its contracts with foreign-entities and their local partners. There’s no telling how ICC member nations will react to this latest RP international business caper.

RP is a member of the arbitration court and should know that it cannot take ICC decisions lightly.

  69. soleil soleil

this issue should be followed…ICC Philippines is headed by Rizalino Navarro..any comments please, anyone??

  70. Anna,

ICC has threatened international sanction which is not unlikely. Diyan kakailanganin ni Pandak ang America in fact. When America gives the go-signal lalong gutom ang abot ng mga Pilipino, and more graft and corruption and more grabbing to power ang gagawin ngayon ni Pandak!

Whichever, kawawa ang mga pilipino, but better that than nothing to show the evilness of this bogus administration and validity of the call for her removal even from the outside.

hope that realy works Yuko..anything jst to kick the SMAELLY ASS OF THIS BITCH!!!!..as Ninoy said ‘the Filipino is worth dying for’..i really hope so…i really hope so 🙁

  72. Eremita just said that they will not allow Piatco to take over the NAIA3. Wala silang paki-alam sa rule of law.

  73. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

    Ellen:

Keep me straight or tell me if I’m wrong. Facts as I understand them. Philippines govt didn’t spent even a centavo to build NAIA 3 – right? My understanding of the contract or any contract most especially govt contract provided by the govt to all supposedly the prospective bidders was to construct the terminal and operate. Needless to say, Piatco won the contract and built the terminal 3. And Philippines govt has never even made a partial payment to Piatco to date and yet Gloria wants to void the contract due to some discrepancy on the contract. To make matter worst, Gloria wants to take over in running the new terminal or to hand it over to one of her cronies. If something wrong with the contract, shouldn’t Philippines govt be responsible since they are the one I would imagine that wrote the written construction documents and distributed to all interested bidders. Also the govt respresentative (if any) are the one responsible in enforcing the contract to make certain the terminal 3 get built in accordance to the signed documents during construction phase. So, why Gloria’s govt wants to deny Piatco of what due them and made to suffer? Why even has to go to court when obviously Phil. govt enntered into agreement with Piatco. Obviously the Philippines govt reneged in the contract, as I see it. Don’t they (Piatco) entitle to something? Can you enlighten me please, I’m at loss. Of course, entering into a contract with the Philippines govt is not that simple as you can imagine. Am I missing something?

  74. TongueInAnew TongueInAnew

So that’s it! I saw about 2 trucks of fully armed soldiers parked along Roxas Blvd. where it intersects Airport Road (in the Uniwide Mall vicinity) yesterday morning. Now I realize this will be the opposing force in case Piatco’s Huang makes good his word that he is taking over Terminal 3 beginning today, I guess, with private security personnel ensuring his men’s safety. Akala ko coup d’etat na kahapon.

  75. artsee artsee

  76. TongueInAnew TongueInAnew

Slip of The Tongue: I should have said Piatco’s Cheng instead of Piatco’s Huang

Well, Piatco is definitely not the last to fall victim to the Diabolic Doña’s evil kleptocratic reign. Just as everybody is focused on the thin layer of oil floating in the sea off Guimaras, the stealing, lying, murderous cheating bitch has her eyes trained on another oil-related disaster, this time millions of barrels under the gas cap of the Malampaya natural gas fields in Palawan, a disaster she created herself.

Ang Mitra (no relation to Mitra of Palawan), a Malaysian exploration company that won the bid last May to serve as PNOC’s partner in extracting oil from under the natural gas deposits, was barred by Squatter #1 from its agreement with PNOC to “farm in” by virtue of another Executive Order sending business expats more wrong signals of her supposed investor-friendly policies. Carried in the press initially by Upstream, a trade journal catering to the exploration industry, the said order has delivered shock waves to the investor community in Europe, which has only recently sighed a breath of relief owing to the ICC’s fair adjudication of the Piatco Fiasco.

Malacañang, on urgings of, ironically, Palawan Rep. Baham Mitra, effectively canceled Ang Mitra’s contract with PNOC, as business pundits have it, to hand over to favored cronies now that the reserve deposit has been determined to amount to billions of dollars. Even Energy Sec. Popoy Lotilla or Trade Sec. Peter Favila is clueless as to the order. Apparently, the order was kept between Gloria and Ermita, the old soldier who runs the country like a military camp, later said that PNOC bypassed a local group that was interested in the exploration.

As far as I know, only one local firm expressed interest, an obscure company called Burgundy, which was not in any way engaged in the oil business but in asset management. You can google Palawan.com’s website for the info. The name alone makes me doubt this company’s capability to handle a $5-Billion exploration project much less its track record in asset management. I’m more inclined to believe Burgundy is a boiler-room stock market scam act trying to pull a fast one. Similar to that of Masinloc but with a different modus operandi. What is intriguing here is that Gloria no less seems to be favoring Burgundy or some other similar dummy. One point is clear though: PNOC awarded a huge project to Ang Mitra without the “blessings” of the gods above and the gods are angry. You know the billions of reasons behind it, I’m sure. Ellen, your sleuthing is very much needed here!

After The Great Economist fucked up Piatco, Mega Pacific, Northrail, Masinloc, now Malampaya, its no wonder the Philippines is one country the investor community has blocked from their radar screens. Peter Wallace has expressed concern of expats on the way Government honors its contracts. He even cited one major manufacturer pulling out because of this new scandal. When will it ever end?

Gloria claims she is pro-investor? Look how they love investing here, it’s as much as they love getting their root canal drilled.

  78. One thing with Filipinos in general is indifference.

But then Japan is not the Philippines. Nababanggit lang as a comparison. Take it or leave, ika nga.

😛 Lasenggera, Yes! 😉

Honor is the word…which sadly most politicians dont have.
this is a scoop!!! itong si Tongbalos ay nanenermon kuno sa ANC…hah!!!..lumalabas pa rin ang natural nya!!!!

  81. I saw it too. Ang pikon, talo.
kaya lang, this Abalos is shameless. He was the one lawyering for Singaw in the Senate hearing. Defending Singaw’s spurious signatures.

Remember in the Hello Garci tapes, he was completely deaf and blind to the evidence of cheating.

  82. Ellen,

Nakadebate ko iyan si Abalos via phone during the deliberation for the OAV Law for an ABS-CBN show. I was asked to represent the OFWs in Japan as a matter of fact.

Hindi ako abogado (paralegal on the side, yes) but I know the basic laws of the Philippines like the Civil Code and Penal Code because I translated them into Japanese. I also know the Six Basic Laws of Japan so I can compare, plus my experience as a volunteer in an election campaign just to be able to get the thrill of it and know what to say when we were fighting for the OAV Bill even when I actually would not benefit from it since I could not have dual citizenship.

Abalos at that time was still in fact waiting for approval of his appointment as Comelec Chief. I was not impressed.

Plastic talaga! Grrrrrrr! 😡

Soleil, marami ngang pagkapareho sina Nora Aunor at Tiyanak.

  88. Soleil,

Witnessed with my own two eyes how a high-ranking official adulterous (used to be a ‘friend’ of mine) who was attending mass with his wife in San Antonio church in Forbes, received Holy Communion.

OK, that’s his business with God and not mine, but what shocked me was he seemed to be violating Catholic Church dogma that one couldn’t receive communion when a person commits a mortal sin even if say, he went to confession but thereafter continued to live with a “mortal sin”…

Di ba, according to the Catholic Church, adultery is a mortal sin?

Paano ko na judge na the guy was still living in sin?

Sabi ko sa kanya (hindi na kami “magkaibigan” ngayon), “And of course, I understand that you must feel so proud to be in Church receiving communion side by side with husband and wife in total state of adultery?” Heh! Pero si gago stayed as a ‘kaibigan’ dahil alam niya noon na puwede ko siyang tulungan dito sa Europe ma-konek sa industries dito…

Sabi nga ni UNIFFORS, naknampucha talagang buhay!

Btw, itong si lalaki ay serving under Gloria today in Malacanang!

  89. artsee artsee

Mahirap talaga…

Having a concubine, a paramour on the side in the Philippines most especially is just like Gloria Arroyo lying, cheating and stealing. We tend to learn to accept it as acceptable standard since many women are emotionally and economically in desperate situation. Of course, morally wrong if we are to make argument on such behavior, but then again, so is lying, cheating and stealing and we still have Galungong Gloria at the helm. Ain’t amazing!

naku naman artsee, parang di ko type ang ‘job’ mo, very stressful and i dnt have the guts for however things turn out whenever u ‘find’ what u are looking for…for me kasi, the culprit is the one talagang involved..like example may couple na living in sin bt had a child out of wedlock..kawawa din in some way if we will keep on vindicating the innocent offspring of the illicite relation(unless of course hinayupak ang kinalabasan)..hindi naman ginusto ng anak na ipanganak sya na ganun ang mga magulang nya..well i dont knw if am making sense here…i am at the point na in my life where kung ano man ang pagtutuunan ko ng buong puso ko, i will be happy and having fun…
