Well, I accept to have a personal suntukan with her (mano a mano) but on the condition that if I beat her to a pulp, she’ll allow herself to be hanged by her toes from the highest lamp post in the Philippines. If she beats me, I’ll serve in her government (so that I can punch her again and again).
Problem is you can’t trust this moral pygmy. She doesn’t have a word of honor. She will say she accepts the terms but will renege on her word the way she spits at palabra de honor like it’s nganga in her mouth (yuck). So, with all the best will in the world, there’s not much one can do to answer her challenge of a personal suntukan with her.

Gloria’s fighting and aggressive mood could have been influenced by the ongoing Lebanon crisis. Let’s discuss the subject for a change:
For weeks now, Israel was bombing areas in Lebanon close to her border excluding Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. When US State Sec. Rice landed in Beirut, it was noted that Israel’s bombs were fewer. Beirut was surrounded by US Secret Service to secure Rice’s visit. Today, even Beirut is now bombed by Israel; incidentally one day after Rice left the city. Folks, you now judge for yourself who’s the aggressor and vilain between Israel and Hebollah? Interviewed by foreign media, young children of Lebanon as young as five years old talked negatively about Israel. One child asked why Israel has to bomb them and his family (his father died). These kids’ hatred shall remain until they grow up. These are the future Hebollah and militants. If Israel and US think they could eliminate their enemies by such aggression unmindful of civilian lives, America will continue to be hated by the world even decades from now.

It was a good speech as good political speeches go, but it was not as she promised at the outset. She said she will not touch “pulitika” but went on to deliver a “kampanya”. But yet, the problem is what she has done to the Philippines and what it has become with her as President. If I remember it correctly, wasn’t it mentioned that the documents gathered by aquino involves a vice president to unseat the seating president??? who is that vice president mentioned??? It sure is not erap, during his vice presidency. There are only two names that I could think of: 1) tito guingona, who openly calls for the resignation of Gloria and 2) Gloria herself, who after the force removal from office of erap, admittedly, in public that she talked to the generals. Please correct me if I’m wrong ms. Ellen. Thanks.
Going to the topic, isn’t ironic that her defender, the boy wonder said months ago, that they should stop this childish attack on each of them??? My husband has informed me that Japanese companies are actually shunning away from the Philippines because of the 20% padded bills on Japanese donations and loans that I think is part of the secret deals the Pandak has been inking with China. As for Michael Ray Aquino’s guilty plea, I think it was the right legal move. He pleaded guilty in receiving the information from Argoncillo; but he made it clear he has no knowledge about the espionage thing. We see a long legal battle of this case. But, that’s not of our concern. We’re concerned more about Bolante’s case. What’s up with his case?

So, this blog is composed of old timers…like some kind of barcada thing. However, I hope no one and no group should claim monopoly of what topic or issue to discuss even if sometimes it appears to favor GMA. Let’s not wave the flag as if to show that this blog is exclusively an anti-Arroyo group and anyone who opposes this group’s views is persecuted…making him an outcast. I’m sure when Ellen came out with this blog, that was not in her mind.
Too much passion sometimes makes us forget that discussion group is all about issues. In view thereof, there’s no need to gang up on anyone and conspire to put another one down even if that person is a former member. I agree with you that too much passion sometimes makes us forget the issues raised in the blog.
However, I believe that for as long as there is no insultuhan, passion should be allowed, even a lot of it. Without passion, we cannot beat the demon who is wreaking havoc with her Legion in the Philippines.
In other words, I believe, that a revolution can only be possible if people very passionately believe it can be done.
Barkada means a group composed of different people, from different walks of life, with different views and different ideals. Barkada is friendship and family rolled into one. Old timers, maybe. But to claim monopoly on something which we don’t own, that’s absurd. Prejudice is sometimes misinterpreted but often than not, its just a state of mind which exist only to the insecure. Although this isn’t my blog, allow me to say that you shouldn’t sign off. I’ve read your letters and wish to congrautlate you on your stand regarding issues raised here.
If I may offer some advice, don’t feel too sensitive about the comments here. You will notice that on the whole, the target of the comments here is the enemy in Malacanang and not necessarily the individual commenters.
Personally, I accept your word that you are no Malacanang boy. I suppose many commenters here will appreciate that.

Thanks, Anna, for the correction. The last time I used my French in fact was in 1982 when I went to Paris with a group of Japanese students on a study tour. We also went to Brussels and boy was I glad to use my French. I went to Normandy and Aunger as a matter of fact, and I enjoyed rubbing shoulders with the people there. I felt the blood kinship with the people there although I am not so enamored with the French as a matter of fact. I have more empathy with the British, who treated me well during my stint there as a student. Nice experience and good chance for learning about other people, and you tend to make comparisons. I kind of understand as well why Japanese or even Filipinos, perhaps, educated in UK are more down to earth and less puffed up than those who are educated in the USA. Search me why!

It was her last visit to Japan as a matter of fact as the fake president of the Philippines.

I took up Nivel 1 and 2 , French language course at Alliance Francaise (is this correct?)many, many years ago. I forgot all about it. It helped a little though when I went there a few times, official and personal.

Ellen, you should continue too. One of the best ways is to watch French movies or listen to French radio shows (even if you don’t understand everything they are saying).
You may try to be more daring by Frenchifying many common English words coz many words in English originated from French (a Latin-based language), which was the Royal Court’s language during the time of Guillaume le conquerant’s (William the Conqueror) and his heirs’ reign in the land of the Angles (England).
i.e, danncer = to dance, organiser – to organize, perserver = to persevere, chanter = to sing (close to the English word chant)
Common verbs in French as you probably learned in niveau 1 et niveau 2 of your French courses may end in either ER or RE. Syntax is the same: Subject + verb + object + complements.
I do find that speaking another language on top of one’s native tongue and English is an incredible advantage because one gets to read a wide range of books and opinions. It is really helpful. I also speak and understand a little German and am trying desperately to learn Dutch too or Flemmish (useful in Belgium but is so difficult because of the language’s guttural sounds). My oldest son speaks 4 languages as if they were his native tongues: English, French, German and Spanish while my other children are fully trilingual almost from the time they were born – English, French and German (German was learned with their first nanny who was Austrian and they continued learning it when they went to school). My daughter is starting to learn Chinese at the City Hall’s sponsored Chinese language course and am so happy about that. They all know many words and phrases in Tagalog but sadly, are not conversant in the language.

If I remember it correctly, wasn’t it mentioned that the documents gathered by aquino involves a vice president to unseat the seating president??? who is that vice president mentioned??? It sure is not erap, during his vice presidency. There are only two names that I could think of: 1) tito guingona, who openly calls for the resignation of Gloria and 2) Gloria herself, who after the force removal from office of erap, admittedly, in public that she talked to the generals. My husband has informed me that Japanese companies are actually shunning away from the Philippines because of the 20% padded bills on Japanese donations and loans that I think is part of the secret deals the Pandak has been inking with China. Hindi lang makahirit ang hapon because of the Japan bashing in China that might spread elsewhere. Kaya hinay-hinay lang ang Hapon.
Now, the Foreign Minister is more I guess interested in the offer of haven for the US bases being removed from Okinawa, etc. and our government is willing enough to shoulder the expenses because it is the will of the people to have these military installations removed. There was a plebescite and the people voted against the bases.
It has nothing to do with whether or not Japan or the Japanese people approves of the Bansot. Bago isipin ng mga hapon ang kapakanan ni Bansot o ng mga pilipino, una siyempre ang kapakanan ng Japan at ng mga tao dito!!! As for Michael Ray Aquino’s guilty plea, I think it was the right legal move. But, that’s not of our concern. We’re concerned more about Bolante’s case. What’s up with his case?

However, I hope no one and no group should claim monopoly of what topic or issue to discuss even if sometimes it appears to favor GMA. Thanks, Anna, for the correction. The last time I used my French in fact was in 1982 when I went to Paris with a group of Japanese students on a study tour. We also went to Brussels and boy was I glad to use my French. I went to Normandy and Aunger as a matter of fact, and I enjoyed rubbing shoulders with the people there. I felt the blood kinship with the people there although I am not so enamored with the French as a matter of fact. I have more empathy with the British, who treated me well during my stint there as a student. Nice experience and good chance for learning about other people, and you tend to make comparisons. I kind of understand as well why Japanese or even Filipinos, perhaps, educated in UK are more down to earth and less puffed up than those who are educated in the USA. Search me why!

I took up Nivel 1 and 2 , French language course at Alliance Francaise (is this correct?)many, many years ago. I forgot all about it. It helped a little though when I went there a few times, official and personal.

Ellen, you should continue too. One of the best ways is to watch French movies or listen to French radio shows (even if you don’t understand everything they are saying).
You may try to be more daring by Frenchifying many common English words coz many words in English originated from French (a Latin-based language), which was the Royal Court’s language during the time of Guillaume le conquerant’s (William the Conqueror) and his heirs’ reign in the land of the Angles (England).
i.e, danncer = to dance, organiser – to organize, perserver = to persevere, chanter = to sing (close to the English word chant)
Common verbs in French as you probably learned in niveau 1 et niveau 2 of your French courses may end in either ER or RE. Syntax is the same: Subject + verb + object + complements.
I do find that speaking another language on top of one’s native tongue and English is an incredible advantage because one gets to read a wide range of books and opinions. It is really helpful. I also speak and understand a little German and am trying desperately to learn Dutch too or Flemmish (useful in Belgium but is so difficult because of the language’s guttural sounds). My oldest son speaks 4 languages as if they were his native tongues: English, French, German and Spanish while my other children are fully trilingual almost from the time they were born – English, French and German (German was learned with their first nanny who was Austrian and they continued learning it when they went to school). My daughter is starting to learn Chinese at the City Hall’s sponsored Chinese language course and am so happy about that. They all know many words and phrases in Tagalog but sadly, are not conversant in the language.

I watch movies in TV5. The one with English subtitles. I enjoy it better than Hollywood movies. The past two wednesdays, they had the movie on Felix Leclerc, the Quebecois folk singer and patriot.

Ang DLSU lang yata dito sa Pinas ang may M.A.I.S. in European Studies.
Ang UP at Ateneo ay meron din pero undergraduate program lang.(European Languages in UP).
Sa Univ. of the East naman ay Asian Studies pero magkaiba ito sa program na offer ng St.Benilde Coll. which is Consular and Diplomatic Affairs.

Npongco, nope, my friend’s name ain’t Irma and both spouses still live in the Philippines. They have kins (sisters and parents) in the US but my friends decided to stay in the Philippines. They’re in mourning. Their 18 yr old daughter who was a medical student La Salle in Cavite died suddenly.
Oh Je suis de sole’…The daughter died? Please ask this couple of questions: 1. If the kins are in the US, are they in Hawaii and California? 2. Are they from San Fernando, Pampanga? If the answers to the above two questions are yes, then we’re related.
