In bragging about the special jail for those suspected of plotting to oust Gloria Arroyo, Army Chief Hermogenes Esperon should remember the story of Ilocos Norte (lst district) Rep. Roque Ablan, Jr. about his experience when martial law was declared in September 1972.
Ablan related that he was one among those arrested during the first few days of martial law. Although he was a relative of Marcos, the strongman wanted to show the public that his iron hand spared no one.
Ablan said when he was brought to the Fort Bonifacio gym together with other detainees, he cried seeing the irony of it all. It was through his pork barrel that the gym was constructed.
Unlike in many cases involving problems in the army or his role in the rigging of election results in 2004 as mentioned by Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano, Esperon was eager to inform media about the facility in Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal, headquarters of the Army 2nd infantry division.
That used to be the detention cell of former President Estrada before he was transferred to his sprawling country house across the camp.
“We are building a jail for those who deserve to be jailed,” Esperon said. He added that the jail could also accommodate those considered “destabilizers.”
Probably to scare his targets, Esperon boasted, “When you are inside that detention cell, you are the most secured individual.”
Good. That should be a great comfort for him if he gets the privilege of occupying it when Gloria Arroyo falls.
Esperon would not be able to escape accountability for destabilizing the country with his continued support for an illegitimate president. He accuses members of the military who want to correct the situation by removing a power grabber of plotting a coup. How can you stage a coup against someone who was never elected by the Filipino people?
We see no crime committed by soldiers who denounce the use of the military for election cheating. But we know that it is a crime to be an accessory to cheating.
Esperon should heed the reminder of Sen. Rodolfo Biazon: “Soldiers, your duty is to defend the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines. Anyone who violates the Constitution is your enemy.”
Since she grabbed power in January 2001, Arroyo has been violating the Constitution left and right. Clearly, she is the enemy to members of the military who takes seriously their role as “protector of the people and the State.”
The perceptive public however senses anxiety behind Esperon’s bravado. The army chief knows the real situation in the military. That’s why he is just resorting to tough talk.
Commodore (ret.) Rex Robles, one of the founders of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement, which had a major role in ousting Marcos, last week said government officials should stop talking big while acting small.
He said: “If indeed there was a coup ( he thinks there was none but merely a demonstration of dissatisfaction), then the plotters are guilty of treason. They should be punished with death by musketry.”
Yes. Arroyo and Esperon should not bother about detention cells. If they believe they have the people and the whole armed forces behind them, they should line up Brig. Gen. Danny Lim and Col. Ariel Querubin against the wall and shoot them.
Let’s see what will happen.
Yes!!, I believe the jail being built in Camp Capinpin will house gloria and her generals. Sooner or later they will find themselves locked and secured there. Esperon, Senga, Lomibao et. al. will pay the price of keeping a fake president. Until now they don’t realize that everything has an end. That in the end , right wins over wrong. Really satan is manipulating them to the highest degree….from drugs, gambling, cheating, stealing, killing, and whew! lying..these are all satanic works. The end is near….and so they must face the final curtain.

Yeah, gen esperon has secured his future, the second coming or the reincranation of the alte gen. ver (baka magalit pa nga si gen ver na kinumpara sa kanya si esperon e, hehehehehe). Yes folks, he’s future is well secured, after the leprecahun is kicked out of malacanang, that’s the place where esperon will stay, secured daw e, secured para sa kanya, hehehehehe.
Esperon will be retiring in a year.
His future is secure. He will be given a plum post in the cabinet or become an ambassador to another major ally nation – perhaps as ambassador to New Zealand???? His upperclassman is already ambassador to Australia after all.
