I’m back

Thanks for keeping this blog alive while i was away.

But I noticed some nuisance visitors. I had to delete their comments. There’s also one who uses my name. I’ll have to talk to my administrator about it.

Wow, I missed a lot.

Anyway, together with my two friends, Yvonne Chua of PCIJ and her sister, Helen, we went to Boracay. Then I went home to our place in Guisijan, Antique where we don’t have a TV at home. But with cellphones, one can’t get away from what was happening here.

I got my updates about Danny Lim and Arroyo state of national emergency while gardening.

Anyway, I got back last night.

I have a lot to catch up with.

Hi Ellen, welcome back! I am a concerned citizen and a Filipino professional working abroad. I don’t know if what I will reveal to you is of any significance to the ongoing political crisis in our beloved country. Sometime in May 2005, I saw First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos and an incumbent congressman meeting in a hotel here in Seoul, South Korea, the name of the Hotel is Westin Chosun Hotel. I did not hear any topic of their conversation, I am just wondering, is’nt it unusual for the husband of the incumbent President and the COMELEC Chairman meeting abroad together with an incumbent congressman, I think this happened before the “Hello Garci” tapes went out in public. I am asking if a meeting among the said personaltities in a foreign country is normal? (Are they afraid of local media since the meeting was held abroad to avoid media scrutiny?, Are they cooking up something?, a conspiracy to hide true results of the elections, enjoying the spoils of the just concluded fraudulent presidential elections). I would like to get your personal opinion, Ms. Tordesillas if a meeting abroad among the husband of an incumbent president, an incumbent congressman and the Chairman of COMELEC is the proper thing considering that the COMELEC is suppose to be neutral and without leaning or favor to a particular politician or political party. Just asking?

P.S.: I appreciate what you are doing in keeping the public well informed. I admire your courage and conviction, we need more Filipinos like you, especially under the present circumstances.

    Regards,

FOLKS, Those who’ve got the time to post comments on blogs, please have a look at this item from Austin Bay (who gets 10,000 visitors a day). He quotes my blog, but there is also this FilipinoAmerican there who is mouthing the admin line. Don’t know if he’s Palace or just another Pinoy enjoying America and making fun of what he got of. But I think it is extraordinarily important for people to stand up to and debate with our countrymen abroad. They don’t know anything but the folks over there listen to them because we sometimes only talk to ourselves. Please visit and comment (don’t be afraid, just be polite and make the right points):

Yeah,!!!welcome back ellen, anyhow, while you’re on vacation, I requested if you could check, if the chief of staff of the vice president is required by law to have a close-in security???, I heard that the VP chief of staff has one???is he that powerful/his life in danger to have a close-in security, is the CoS of the VP powerful than the Presidential cheif of staff or the AFP chief of staff, for him to have one secuiryt detailed to him???

thanks for the tip, DJB. And ellen, we miss you!

  10. Jinx,I think it’s ridiculous for a member of the staff of a high government office to have a close-in security.

But if their funds are overflowing and they feel they have many things to be afraid about, maybe they need a security aide.

Jinx, he’s got personnel forming 3 security teams from the PNP and the AFP for round the clock close in security on top of which he’s got a military adviser or assistant!

  16. a de brux a de brux

    Jinx,

On record, the AFP has something like 119 000 officers and men. In reality, lots of them are detailed for security postings to members of Congress (both upper and lower houses) members of cabinet, etc. including to many provincial governors, so what happens is your typical AFP population’s fighting force has dwindled to something so much less than what’s on record.

If you count all those “political prima donas”, and multiply them by a conservative figure of just 3 security men – which is far more than that in reality – you can easily check how many of our soldiers and OFFICERS are relegated to non-combat duty and worse, to virtual domestic help duty (given these political prima donnas’ other members in the family, i.e., spouses, children, mistresses, etc.).

So absurd is the practice that you actually end up creating the ladies-in-waiting mentality in a military corps!

    28 February 2006,

Thanks for the comments, but please, read my message ‘THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE VICE PRESIDENT, REPEAT THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE VICE PRESIDENT not mike defensor, who is not even of cabinet level. This one is something I cannot ferret, I was told, that all of the chief of staff of former VP’s did not have a close-in security officer detailed to them. Their budget is not overflowing, check the staff of the OVP and they will you another thing. Matter of fact the chief of staff of de castro is not always in his office. Just asking

    jinx
