Noong Martes, nagpuntahan ang nga defense reporters, ang mga nagku-cover sa mga pangyayari sa military, sa bahay ni Sen. Manny Villar sa Shaw Boulevard dahil sa press release ng Nacionalista Party na ang Partido Magdalo ay sasama sa kanila para suportahan ang kandidatura ni Villar para presidente.
Akala nila ay yung mga Magdalo na mga batang opisyal ng military na nanindigan laban sa corruption sa administrasyong Arroyo noong Hulyo 2003 sa Oakwood Hotel sa Makati. Ang isa doon ay si Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV na hanggang ngayon ay nakakulong.
Nagtaka sila na pagdating nila doon, wala naman silang nakita na mga rebeldeng sundalo. Ang nandun ay mga taga-Cavite na mga pulitiko sa pangunguna ni Rep. Boying Remulla.
Mali ang kanilang akala. Iba ang Partido Magdalo ng Cavite sa Samahang Magdalo nina Trillanes.
Nagpalabas ng statement kinabukasan sina Trillanes na ang Magdalo Party/Samahang Magdalo ay hindi nagi-endorso kay Villar o sino man na kandidato sa pagka-presidente sa ngayon.
“Ipahayag namin ang aming susuportahan na kandidato sa Oktubre 25,” sabi ng Samahang Magdalo.
Dati na ang Partido Magdalo nina Remulla at Gubernador Ayong Maliksi, parehong taga Cavite.Tatlong dekada na ang kanilang partido.. Ang pangalang “Magdalo” kasi galing sa grupo ng rebolusyunaryo na si Emilio Aguinaldo, ang unang pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas.
Ang paggamit nina Trillanes ng pangalang “Magdalo” ay hindi sadya. Kagagawan ito ng executive producer sa ABS-CBN na si Joel Saracho.
Nang unang lumabas ang mga rebeldeng batang opisyal noong Hulyo 27, 2003, wala pangalan ang grupo. Meron lang silang pulang armband na may litrato ng araw na may mga raya. Sabi ni Joel, “di ba parang Magdalo sign yan?” Dahil hindi nga alam ng media kung ano itong rebeldeng grupo, tinawag na lang nilang “Magdalo”. Lahat-lahat na sumunod.
Hindi na maalis kahit sabihin nina Trillanes na mas gusto nila ang pangalang “Bagong Katipunero”. Kaya noong 2007 na eleksyun, ginamit na rin niya ang pangalang “Magdalo.”
Nag-apply ang Samahang Magdalo sa Comelec ng accreditation bilang regional political party sa National Capital Region.
Sa darating na 2010 eleksyun lima ang miyembro ng “Magdalo” na kakanndidato: sina Brig. Gen. Danny Lim para senador; Navy Capt. James Layug para congressman sa Taguig; Air Force Lt. Ashley Acedillo para congressman sa Cebu; Army Capt. Dante para congressman sa Kalinga; at Marine Capt. Gary Alejano para mayor sa Sipalay, Negros Occidental.
Susuportahan din nila ang kandidatura ni Col. Ariel Querubin sa pagka senador.
Noong Miyerkoles, nagkaroon ng feeding program ang Samahang Magdalo sa Taguig. Matagal na nilang ginagawa ito sa iba’t-ibang lugar para naman kahit paano maibsan ang kahirapan ng mga maralitang Pilipino. Namigay rin sila ng 22 wheelchair.
Ang Samahang Magdalo ay naninindigan para sa marangal, malinis, at makataong pamamalakad ng pamahalaan.

Correction. 1998 pa tumitira na yan. Joker Arroyo, in 1998, delivered a privilege speech charging Villar with basically the same things he is being charged in the Senate today – using his position to benefit his businesses. Like he is doing in the Senate, Villar refused to submit himself to the House ethics committee. He chose to answer the charges against him in the media. Baboy talaga kaya walang makuhang runing mate.

I didn’t follow his career until sometime before 2001. Have heard about from people who knew him; one told me about his close relationship with Erap so Erap made sure that the speakership went to him eventually; another said that he had been useful to Erap in terms of funding. I know he was a hard-nosed businesman. Only when he made “isa” to Erap in 2000 did many things I was told about him started coming back to me. From then on, the man proved that he was a heel, an opportunist and a jerk…
And now this info from you. The guy is a double, triple heel-jerk. No wonder nobody wants to be his running mate — they all expect that he would dupe, trick, maisahan din sila.

Manuel Buencamino’s own article is both witty and humorous. According to him, then Cong. Joker Arroyo slammed Speaker Villar’s defenders in Batasan for answering for him instead of Villar himself submitting to the Ethics Panel. Joker referred to them as “toadies”. Today, Joker is croaking loud.

I remember that my mother always said that politics in Cavite were for tulisans — i seem to recall it was guns and good golds kind of politics in that ^province long ago (i was a toodler);
my cousin left eventually and settled in govt serving as undersecretary in two mjor departments under marcos and under Aquino and later on under FVR.

That Villar is a snake, I am not surprised. His political ads paint him as champion of the poor for he once was poor. “Tumutulong sa mahirap dahil galing sa mahirap” so the slogan goes. But the ad was really spinning yarns that his low-cost houses were intended to help the poor when in fact the shrewd Manny Villar saw it as a niche and an opportunity to milk his buyers of their savings while he colludes with the corrupt administrators of gov’t to finance his projects.
My family is close to the Villars, especially the Aguilars, but I will never be party to any act to enhance Villar’s chances to further sucker the whole country any longer.

Re Ronnie Puno.
He announced for vice kasi he wanted Kampi to have a seat at the table. However, he is not going to go through with his candidacy if poll numbers are not good. Unless of course someone foots the bill for a futile run for vice president. If anything, Puno is a practical man, he’s not going to throw his own money away for a race he is not going to win.
I think he welcomes the Vilma option because it gives him room to withdraw gracefully
