Sa tape sinabi ni Lim, “The entire system has broken down – thanks to a President whose legitimacy has been denied by the vast majority of our people.

“In her mad desire for power, she has corrupted and destroyed all institutions, she has promoted a policy of loot and plunder while hypocritically announcing a war on corruption.

Sabi niya”As soldiers, we don’t seek political power for ourselves, but we shall not allow anyone to use political power to commit crimes against our people, or pursue their own personal agenda at the expense of the national interest.

Malacañang appears to be in a dilemma in Gen. Lim’s case. The Gen. Lim video has parallels with the Garci tape. If they say Lim video is admissible as evidence subject to authentication, then Garci tape should also be admissible.

It also has parallels with Angelo Reyes withdrawal of support. If Lim should be prosecuted, Reyes should also be prosecuted. Worse in the case of Reyes because his act was consummated. In Lim’s case, it was not so because video was not aired.

  2. Yehey! Point is who will prosecute this Bansot when the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court are beholden to the criminally inclined.

I support Congressman Golez for what he is doing. Ellen, will you kindly email to me his email addy and phone nos. as we plan to invite people like him to come to Japan and meet with members of the Japanese Diet for a briefing on Philippine issues.

    Thanks and best regards

Lim. He sacrificed his profession and future for our country. Sayang.

Funny thing with gen esperon, he claims that the video of gen lim is a prima facie evidence, but what do they call the names mentioned in the hello garci tape??? wasn’t it a prima facie evidence, he wants gen lim and company to be transferred to the maximum detention at tanay, if that is again the case, what do they call, again, the case of angie reyes other general and public officials in 2001, more importantly, the video showing the leprechaun telling everybody that she talked and plotted to remove the constitutionally elected president in 2001???

  5. Another text message from Rep. Roilo Golez:

I believe Gen. Lim, Roy Señeres et al should be summoned to Congress.

I am instructing my staff to draft the House Resolution to inquire into intentions and justications of Gen. Lim et al with a view to determining whether the term “withdrawal of support” is adequately defined in the stature of books, including the role of the AFP as “protector of the people” and how well AFP officers and enlisted personnel have been regimented on the principle of “civilian supremacy over the military.”

Army General Danilo Lim is a true hero of the Filipino people. He risks his career, life and family for a just cause- the PRESERVATION and DEFENSE of our DEMOCRATIC WAY of LIFE. We salute your courage and conviction in service to Inang Bayan. Withdrawal of support from bogus Commander in Chief is the right thing to do. Power grabber and cheater Gloria Arroyo doest not deserve a minute in Malacanag Palace. The Arroyo government is in fishing expedition in the so-called left and right power grab conspiracy.

  8. Spartan Spartan

Lim?

Parusahan? Katulad nung parusa na natanggap ni Angie Reyes at Virgilio Garcillano, at sa mga taong gumamit sa kanila, to steal the presidency — twice?

    Ronnie Mabini,

Look at what is happening around you… This is not anymore about of what is one’s political affilitiation nor belief, this is about what is RIGHT and TRUE…

For so long, there are many discussions and arguments, talks of coup d’etat, etc.. all rooted from where?.. did MIDGET really win?. un lang naman di ba?.. hayaan lang nila na magkaroon ng imbestigasyon, wag lang nilang harangan ang imbestigasyon, un lang ang hiling ng marami.. and i know, lahat mananahimik na pag hinayaan nilang magkaroon ng imbestigasyon about that issue… and let the truth come out.. the congress’s crushing of the impeachment last year just because of ‘not having 79 votes’ doesn’t clear the issue of her illegitimacy.. simple lang nman di ba?..

ikaw ba, hindi ka ba naniniwalang hinaharang ng administrasyon ang anumang klase ng imbestigasyon about MIDGET’s legality in the PRESIDENT’s office?..

let’s all go back to the basics, to the fundamentals… just let the truth come out..

  12. Bentong Bentong

I believe Gen. Esperon is a fine man, a gentleman, may damdamin para sa tao.

So ano ngaun’ you vote a dog, you deserved a dog’ OGAG

  20. I saw the same interview with the (in)justice secretary. He only strengthened the belief that a double-standard does exist in this current dispensation. But law is supposed to be blind and fair, everybody must submit to it regardless of affiliation. Does he mean to say that if stole and was not caught, then I’m without guilt? The law should apply to all, Angie Reyes and all those who withdrew their support back in ’01 should suffer the same fate that awaits Gen. Lim. Morally devoid is what I can describe this line of belief this administration espouses.

There seems to be a power play now in the adminstration. Esperon seems so eager to neutralize Gen. Lim. He was implicated in the Garci tapes and to silence Gen. Lim would bolster his bid for the AFP head honcho. Senga however is in a quandry on how to deal with Gen. Lim. Prosecuting Lim would open a Pandora’s Box, the tape has already opened a can of worms which has led to different scenarios and interpretaions.

Rep. Golez hit the nail on the head when he stated that there is a parallel to the Garci tape. Without anybody owing up to the wiretap, there is no way it can be used, so is the Lim tape which if Lim denies cannot be used aaginst him. But then again, Gonzalez’s own assertion reeks of double standard.

Lastly, the administration should stop portraying itself as the state. We the entire populace is the state. GMA is not the commander in chief, as we the people/civilian authority is the true commander of the AFP. What GMA holds is the title, but not the body. This doctrine of chain of command has to be made clear to all members of the military, we the people are their leaders, they must never protect an invidual claiming to be president and government, for we the people, is the government.

GMA and her cohorts are merely holding a temp job. We can remove them anytime as we are their true masters and not the other way aroound.

    Hahahahaha!

and i loved the part where gen. lim called arroyo a bogus president. indeed!

so now that we saw the lim tape on tv, can we now expect the tv stations to play the gloriagate tapes on tv too? if they played the phony bunye tapes on TV, and Chavit’s X-tapes on tv, and Gen.

it’s never too late to play the GLORIAGATE tapes on the TV news shows of ch. 2 and ch. 7, dahil late na ring lumabas ang lim tape, even though we’ve heard about it’s existence before.

  25. John, don’t expect Bunye(ta) to appear on tv holding two tapes of Danny Lim. That would really bring back “fond” memories.

  26. Lumalabas na ang tunay na kulay noong mga intruders to this blogs. Yehey! Pretending to be all knowing pa ang mga ungas! Sipsip!

  27. Thanks Menok, but I’d love to see Bunye(ta) make a fool of himself again. With the kind of people in the palace, the least they can do for us is to give us something to laugh at from time to time. And we thought the best clowns can be found in the majority at the lower house.

Gen. Lim heroic act is a blessing in disguise. An act that revealed the true colors of dirty politics.

  29. Off topic, but thanks to all who sent me an email re the North Korean crisis. No damage here, and I am not worried. Nor are people here, for this matter is the responsibility of those who sit in the government. Besides, my family and I are prepared for this kind of disaster, basta huwag lang matamaan ng diretso ng bomba! I have a food supply for at least a month kept in plastic storage containers, and each ward (borough)in Japan has a warehouse of emergency and relief supplies that will be enough to feed people here for as long as necessary. We are actually just told to prepare an emergency kit each person for at least 72 hours until the government relief comes.

Anyway, would like to share this note from our Jun-chan (Koizumi):

Protest against North Korea’s missile launches/
Japan-US alliance in the global context

    Junichiro Koizumi here.

From the early hours of yesterday, North Korea fired ballistic
    missiles on several instances.

North Korea went ahead with the missile launches in spite of
advance warnings from the countries concerned including Japan.
This is a serious issue from the standpoint of the security of
Japan and the peace and stability of the international community,
as well as from the standpoint of the non-proliferation of weapons
of mass destruction (WMDs), and may constitute a violation of the
    Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration.

Japan has immediately lodged a vehement protest against North Korea.
We strongly urge North Korea to reconfirm its moratorium on missile
launch, to follow through on the moratorium and to expeditiously
return to the Six-Party Talks without preconditions.

The Government has decided to impose sanctions against North Korea,
including a ban on the entry of Man Gyong Bong. Japan will further
enhance its cooperation with the United States (US) in accordance
with the Japan-US alliance, as well as further advance its
coordination with the countries concerned including other parties
to the Six-Party Talks. At the same time, Japan will call on the
United Nations (UN) Security Council to take appropriate measures.

Last week I visited Ottawa, the capital of Canada. On June 28,
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and I discussed cooperation toward
expanded economic relations between Japan and Canada, as well as
the issue of North Korea, the G8 Summit and other matters that
require cooperation between Japan and Canada in the international
community. This was my first meeting with Prime Minister Harper who
took office in February of this year, and the two of us were able
to have a very thorough discussion.

I arrived in Washington, DC that same afternoon, and on the next
day, the 29th, I had a meeting with President George W. Bush
following the Arrival Ceremony at the White House.

In addition to bilateral relations including the issue of the
realignment of US forces in Japan, our discussions covered wide-
ranging topics relating to the peace and safety of the world and
other issues such as the fight against terrorism, reconstruction
assistance in Iraq and Afghanistan, North Korea’s nuclear, missile
and abduction issues, Iran’s nuclear development, UN reform, energy
and environment, and poverty alleviation and disease control
    measures.

We talked at length on the issue of North Korea. President Bush
said he was moved when he met Mrs. Sakie Yokota, a family member of
one of the abductees. Anyone whose child suffered a similar tragedy
would naturally be grieved and Mr. and Mrs. Yokota’s grief is
shared by every Japanese and American.

Japan has attached importance to Japan-US relations over the 60
years since the end of World War II. We have also maintained
international coordination while recognizing the importance of
Japan-US relations because we have continued to believe that this
was the best choice in light of the lessons of the War.

This is the basis of Japan’s foreign policy and this will remain
    unchanged.

There is a view that if Japan-US relations are no longer favorable,
this should be offset by Japan’s relations with other countries.
I, however, do not share this view. My belief is that the better
the relations are between Japan and the US, the more favorable
Japan’s relations will be with Asian countries such as China and
    the Republic of Korea (ROK).

There seems to be some misunderstanding. I am by no means saying
that what happens to Japan’s relations with other countries is of
little consequence as long as Japan-US relations are good. I am
simply saying that no relations are as important as Japan-US
    relations.

Japan achieved remarkable growth and development after the War.
This was possible only because Japan learned from the lessons of
the War, attached importance to Japan-US relations and built
international coordination. Japan intends to cooperate with
countries around the world to resolve the various challenges faced
by the world by reinforcing and enhancing the Japan-US alliance in
    the global context.

At the State Dinner at the White House on the evening of June 29,
I gave the following remarks in English:

    Mr. President,

It was exactly five years ago, June 30th, 2001, that I first
met with you. After our talks, the President and I played catch
in the woods of Camp David. Since then, based upon our
heartfelt friendship, we have nurtured this vital bilateral
relationship and have joined together as close allies to tackle
    a diverse set of challenges.

Actually, I believe it was thanks to that game of catch with
the President that I was able to feel confident when I stood on
the pitcher’s mound and threw out the first pitch at Yankee
Stadium in September 2004. USA Today reported that it was, and
I quote, “a near perfect strike!”

The President often mentions in public that Japan and the
United States went from being enemies during World War II to
become the closest of allies and leading members of the
community of free and democratic nations.

In the new year of 1946–only several months after the end of
war–then Emperor Showa composed a Japanese traditional poem,
which reads, “Courageous pine–enduring the snow that is piling
up, color unchanging. Let people be like this.”

I can imagine the Emperor gazing at a pine tree in his palace
and reading out this poem, at the time when our land was
devastated and our people were depressed by Japan’s defeat. The
snow is heavily piling up, and almost all the trees’ leaves are
either gone or have changed colors. However, this pine stands
firm without losing its needles or changing its color. I think
the Emperor wished our people to be like the pine, when he
wrote this poem for encouraging the people in the most
    difficult of times.

Since then, the people of Japan have strived to fulfill this
poem’s spirit by hard work and discipline. At the same time,
Japan will never forget that it was also the generous support
provided by the United States after the War that contributed
heavily to Japan’s remarkable postwar development.

During the War, the people in Japan were taught to fear and
hate the Americans as if they were monsters, but the Americans
who arrived in front of us in fact came with warm and generous
hearts. The Japanese people are still impressed with, as well
as grateful for, the generosity of the United States and the
    American people.

In March 1865, just before the end of the Civil War, President
Abraham Lincoln spoke to his audience in his second inaugural
    address,
“With malice toward none, with charity for all, . . . let us
    strive on . . . to bind up the nation’s wounds . . . to do all
which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among
    ourselves and with all nations.”

I believe, it was this American spirit that lifted the hearts
of our Japanese people, made Japan’s reconstruction possible
and built a foundation for the solid friendship between our two
    nations.

It is such an impressive thing that our two nations, who once
fought against each other, now share common values and together,
as close friends and allies, are tackling a wide variety of
    challenges around the world.

9/11 was an attack not solely against your country. It was a
challenge against all of us, the entire human race, and all
those who respect human dignity and freedom. Terrorism and the
proliferation of WMDs threaten the basic fundamentals of our
life. I would like to pay my sincerest respect to President
Bush, who has been so steadfast and determined in protecting
    freedom and democracy.

I sometimes see the image of the United States as Gary Cooper
in my favorite movie, “High Noon.” Marshal Cooper stood up
alone with courage and justice against four outlaw men. However,
there is one huge difference between that marshal and the
United States. The United States is not alone when facing the
evils that exist today. The United States is always with its
allies and friends. And Japan stands by the United States of
    America.

The President and I both recognize the importance of the Japan-
US alliance as we, at the same time, cooperate with many other
nations around the world, as well as with the United Nations.
Japan is determined to further develop this cooperation with
the United States on a wide variety of issues ranging from the
fight against terrorism, to democratization and reconstruction
of Afghanistan and Iraq, to alleviation of poverty, to natural
    disaster relief.

Tomorrow, the President, Mrs. Bush and I are going to visit
Memphis, Tennessee, home to Elvis Presley. When I was young, my
exposure to “America” was Presley, which is a vivid memory of
my youth. The first English song I ever learned by heart was
Presley’s “I want you, I need you, I love you.”

Mr. President, Mrs. Bush, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to propose a toast to the further enhancement of
the Japan-US relationship. In the words of Elvis, “I want you,
I need you, I love you,” as those lyrics suggest, I hope that
our two nations, sharing fundamental values and interests, will
continue to be essential to each other, will cooperate for
world peace and prosperity, and will further enrich our
    bilateral relationship.

    Kanpai!

I visited Memphis, Tennessee the following day, where I was greeted
by Ms. Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis Presley, as well
as Ms. Lisa Marie Presley, their daughter. I lost my sense of time
as I studied the many memorabilia of this great star at Graceland.
I would like to offer my heartfelt gratitude to the people of the
US beginning with the President and Mrs. Bush, who welcomed me to
    their country.

Memphis is also where the father of the American Civil Rights
Movement Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., known for his famous speech,
“I have a dream,” was assassinated. I also visited the National
Civil Rights Museum, where the site of his assassination is
    preserved.

The Basic Policies for Economic and Fiscal Management and
Structural Reform will be decided this weekend. The policies will
serve as the fundamental guideline for our mid-term economic growth
strategy and restoring financial health. Next week, I will visit
Israel, Palestine and Jordan in the Middle East, then attend the G8
Summit in St. Petersburg in Russia.

Japan, as a responsible member of the international community, will
further engage in efforts to tackle the various challenges faced by
the international community with the Japan-US alliance and
international coordination as the basis of foreign policy.

Pihado ko inggit si Bansot kay Koizumi kasi sakay ng Air Force One touring US skyspace with Dubya! Kasama pa sa Graceland!

What’s happening in this land is truly a comedy combined with tragedy. And it’s the little people who suffer, not our politicians and those noisy know-it-alls in the civilian sector who lead cushy, air-conditioned lives.

  31. Ellen,

    Tama si Golez!

Sige, out with the whole thing. I doubt however that Esperon will allow Lim to attend the hearing.

What they should do is summon FF Cruz, Gabby Lopez, Babe Romualdez and Max Soliven as well.

Golez, an Annapolis graduate, ex naval captain (colonel in the army), was ex NSA and should know how things work at that level. He already knows that “withdrawal of support” is BS in military legal parlance.

However, what really gobsmacked me is that Lim should be kowtowed to making such a tape. What on earth did he learn in West Point? That’s extremely poor military tactic.

  32. men0k men0k

Yeah, I think this ploy of making this ‘video’ public backfired to the gov’t… they made it public to ‘prove’ that 1017 was really needed that time.. I think Biazon was right when he said the gov’t doesn’t know how wide this problem has gotten already in the AFP/PNP..

I feel something big will happen SOON…

  33. FB FB

I agree that malacanang’s plan has backfired right in their own face… ouch… now we can compare whats the difference between tha tape and the video. Lim can also say that its fabricated 🙂 spliced 🙂
Compare Reyes with Gen Lim’s act. Its not a crime to withdraw support from a person who stole the presidency.

I just feel sorry for Gen Lim. Naiwan sa ere…

  36. Anna:

Ask me about police work, etc., I’ll probably answer you accurately and with precision, but as for how the Philippine military is run, nada! Meaning nothing good to say about it presently with all the bobos de la yuca running the show now! But then, military tactic is nothing ingrained or inborn or anything else but something crafted not really to save lives but to defeat enemies in war.

But what does it prove when they show this video of Lim who must have been tricked into making those “damaging” statements more as a prank than as something to incite sedition or whatever the criminally inclined wants to make out of it? Lim must have been just looking for some diversion as the man must have been up to his neck with boredom with the kind of pa-cutie-cutie BS of the Punggok who thinks her pa-cute-cute is enough qualification for greatness.

Anybody in his right frame of mind no doubt says the same thing and much, much worse—may kasama pang “Tangna mo Punggok! Mamatay ka na sana!”

You bet, they show Lim’s video, we insist on the criminals to explain about the Garci tapes that is more real to me than this tape of Lim!

  37. Jinx,

SANA GANITO RIN ANG BATAS SA ATIN, NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW!
    ———–
Police officer busted for molesting high school girl on train
YOKOHAMA — A middle-aged police officer has been arrested for molesting a high school girl on a train, police said on Thursday.

Hiroshi Wada, 49, stands accused of molestation in violation of Kanagawa Prefecture ordinances.

“Our bodies came close on a crowded train. So I felt a temptation (to touch her),” Wada was quoted as saying. He put his hand up the 16-year-old girl’s skirt and touched her legs on a Sagami Testudo train in Yokohama at about 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The girl grabbed Wada’s hand and handed him over to railway workers at Futamatagawa Station, where police arrested him.

Kanagawa police plan to release Wada because there is no risk of him fleeing and plan to send a report on the case to prosecutors.

“It was an act that police officers must never commit. We apologize to the victim,” a Kanagawa police official said. “We will punish him severely.” (Mainichi)

  40. Anna,

Just saw Lim’s tape again on ANC. It seems that Lim was extending an invitation instead to some civilians instead of them being a part of a plot. I do not know what Seneres is up to. It seems that he has a deeper participation in this and the names he floated could have been those Lim chose to head a transitory council. With the denial of Orbos and de Villa now, who’s telling the truth. Lim did not mention any names but did extend an invitation to selfless civilians could lead the country.

This puts me in a quandry as to why Seneres had to mention names if as he asserts has no firsthand knowledge of Lim’s plans. Clavio of GMA 7 interviewed a supposed participant in the plot. His account seems too detailed that one would wonder if his story is true. We all have to watch what happens in the next few days.

  41. Alam mo Bentong, it takes two to tango. Tama ba iyan? I should know because I work in the police, court and prison in Japan as an interpreter, but you will see even the difference between the Filipino and Japanese criminals as a matter of fact based on how they have been disciplined and made to abide by the law. Once a Japanese is caught, most likely, he bows his head and says “Sorry!” and the policeman who catches him does not even have to use physical and verbal abuse as they do in the Philippines. Filipinos in most cases would even try harder to try to evade by the law by saying a pack of lies!

Let me give you an example.

Bagamat inaasahan nilang igalang namin sila. “Honor thy father and thy mother.”
sabi nga ng Panginoon “that thy days may be longer.”

Diyos mahabagin!

  43. Thanks a lot Schumey.

Your info is very interesting. The actual language of Lim on the tape will be crucial to determining the charges that should be levied against him by the Advocate General, which when done needs the approval of Gloria as the bogus president to convene a martial law.

Then the shit will hit the fan coz Lim’s defence counsels can call in Angie Reyes and company and even FVR as witnesses and out go the worms from the opened can… (Sorry for the language…)

  46. Anna,

Nellie Simbayan would definitely be the most sought after reporter. I really don’t trust Seneres. I don’t find him credible at all. Could he be a government operative? Since he admits he is an instigator, he should have made himself scarce instead of singing like a canary just to boost his ego. This could be GMA’s grand design to justify a declaration of martial law. Lim could have been an unwitting pawn in Malacanang’s soap opera. Seneres could have passed himself as an oppositionist but is really a DPA sent out to destroy the opposition in one stroke. I hope I’m wrong with my theory but I just can’t disregard the signs that seem to be patterned after the Marcos tactics.

I wonder if those police cars were bought with the funds promised by Japan that I understand were in fact old request na ngayon lang ina-aprobahan because of the terror threat.

Gosh, masamang mag-isip ng masama but with the track record of this Bansot, one cannot help it but wonder and think. Palibhasa mother of lies and deceit katulad noong Biblical father of lies and deceit!

  48. Schumey,

Sounds so Machiavellic to me but after what the Philippines has gone through these last few years under and with Gloria, I’m prepared to believe the worst.

  50. MB,

The situation is very tricky. The military does operate in a totally different setting with its own rules and regulations embodied in its own laws and traditions.

At the moment, I see the Armed Forces breaking some of the provisions in its own Articles of War.

There is ONE BLATANT violation being committed today on the person of Brig General Danilo Lim:

He’s been under arrest and detention since end of February without any charges filed against him (I’ve been on and on about this in other previous posts) which breaks his military rights under the article of law as well as his basic human rights under the UN Convention of human rights.
So, on this aspect alone, Esperon being Lim’s commanding general is already culpable in the eyes of the military law.

In the UK or in France and even in the US, a military officer particularly of a superior or star rank, cannot be arrested or detained for FOUR MONTHS without formal charges levelled against him for the simple reason that it could have a demoralizing effect on the chain of command down the line.

In theory and in practice, as commanding general of the army, Esperon has sole authority over Lim.

However, if after 4 months no formal charges have been leveled on Lim and no court martial convened to try him, Senga in his capacity as Chief Armed Forces of the Philippines has full authority to demand that the Commanding General of the Army OBEY MILITARY LAW & FOLLOW military procedures and make sure that Brig General Lim’s rights are protected as a person and also as befitting his rank.

There is NOT ONE STROKE solution to the hierarchy or authority problem but in a democratic context and where professional military men are involved, the Chief of Staff Armed Forces would have to be absolutely confident and sure of his moves because the danger of overriding a major service commander’s authority would lead to chaos and demoralization in a military entity.

Having said that, and if for the sake of argument Esperon should still refuse to obey military law and follow procedures pertaining to the arraignment of Lim, Senga as CSAFP could either:

    1. Relieve Esperon of his authority and place Lim under CSAFP jurisdiction to enforce the rule of military law.

    2. Call for a command conference that should include the Secretary of Defence, the NSA, NSC, the board of Generals and 2 senior members from the Legislature to call Esperon and to have him explain why Lim has not been charged formally and faced a court martial after so many months of detention; should Esperon persist that he is right, that SPECIAL BOARD may decide on the fate of Esperon, i.e., whether to relieve him or not.

I am really surprised that Senga has not acted on the fate of Lim. If you remember, in my other previous posts, I have often said, if the military believes that General Lim is culpable, he must be charged and tried in a court martial illico. The procedures in military law is far more expedient and simpler than in civilian law. It is therefore surprising that Lim, a star ranking general has not been formally charged and if charged, has not been scheduled for trial in a court martial.

I do agree that in the Articles of War, the president of the republic’s consent is or may be needed to convene a formal court martial, however, Senga as CSAFP should have made the recommendation long ago based on the Army Commanding General’s own opinion. In practice, the CSAFP and the board of Generals needen’t even have the formal consent of the commander in chief before they can convene a court martial. That it is not happening is really bad and speaks very badly of the military.

If we look at the Philippines in a different setting as if it is in conflict or at war (either within or outside), the CSAFP could override, overule the Commanding General of the Army and take it upon himself to issue the orders to prosecute Lim. Obviously, we have to determine in what state the Philippines is actually before such scenario could be envisioned.

This happened during the Falklands war when the Chief of Defence Forces UK (that’s how the Chief of Staff Armed Forces is called in the UK) had full authority and could overide and overrule the Royal Navy Chief in decisions pertaining to the conduct of operations. Same with prosecution of erring officers during the war – Chief of Defence Forces could, if he wanted to override the authority and decision by the Naval chief (but obviously did not need to happen in terms of prosecuting erring officers and the convening of court martials).

  51. Anna,

Point taken, but is the chain of command doctrine applicable or not applicable in this particular case? It seems to me the AFP is unsure of how big Lim’s support really is. From my personal point of view, the so-called Grievance Committee never achieved its goal. It was more of lip service. Now Senga seems to be the lame duck. I suppose, he could also be under fire because of how he handled the Feb. 24 event. It took him a while to order his men to stand down.

Now there is demoralization in the force and more animosity towards the current chain of command. Senga is very deliberate with is actions now than I’ve seen before while I find Esperon too maverick. A power struggle seems to be brewing and could escalate. Could Senga be softening up and found this status quo in the AFP becoming untenable? Certain rules and gentleman’s agreements seems to have been broken and this could be affecting Senga. He wouldn’t want to have an all-out mutiny during his watch.

  52. Schumey,

I’m so disgusted by the cowardice in the military leadership today.

I know Senga, I mean I USED to know a different Senga – the Senga I knew then was a hands on decision man and a courageous warrior.

That he is now completely under the control of his own major service commanders is absolutely gobsmacking in the extreme.

The military today is in deep shit – pardon the expression but it is!

I suppose the last man who was a bit more professional in the Military these last couple of years was General Efren Abu, CSAFP who, perhaps because he knew the military was being polluted and prostituted by Gloria, CATEGORICALLY REFUSED to be formally named ambassador to Indonesia (which by the way, irked Gloria} and was content to be just some kind of special envoy to Jakarta.

  53. Tedans Tedans

  57. Anna:

Time to right the wrong sa totoo lang.

I hate to use this word “Tangna” but talagang “Tangna ang pekeng presidenteng ito!”

    Hello to everyone?

If anything, would-be National Savior Señeres (by his own proclamation) sounds eerily like Osama bin Laden. Don’t you think it’s similar to the logic of the Islamic terrorist and suicide-bomber? The jihadi believes that Allah has commanded him to slay the evil ones – including Crusaders (Christians) and Zionists (Jews). Did God, therefore, enjoin, Señeres and Danny Lim to overthrow the evil Gloria? It’s terrifying

The reason why they have not really acted on Lim at the moment is they fear what such step would entail with the kind of devotion and support the marines gave Lim in February. Now, the crooks must have felt they have tamed them to submission that they are now willing to tell tales on Lim. So confident they are that they are now revealing the “secrets” about this Lim tape.

Last February, I saw the whole ABS-CBN unedited transmissions where Defensor even told Korina, et al to make sure that they would not be held legally liable for showing scenes that would constitute a crime of sedition and inciting the people to commit it.

I was called in to transcribe the video transmissions from Manila, and I actually felt disappointed when nothing really significant happened then that was worth flashing on Japanese TV.

I could not help feeling sorry for the Marine (what was his name?) who was made to look like a sorry lot crying for the people to come to their side as they ready themselves for the worse, but in the end, they were cajoled to give it up after realizing perhaps that Lim could be killed on the spot, and there would be nobody to lead them with all their friends now and then in jail.

It’s really pathetic to see how the Philippine military has been so demoralized that in times of war, you can bet your bottom dollar, these soldiers will not be able to defend their country and their people, even themselves for that matter.

On the other hand, we may be able to see a new bunch of guerrillas who will show their will and resolve to survive and save their country even from a fiend like the Bansot now pestering them. Perhaps, this time, Francis Escudero would act like his grandfather who was the father of the guerrillas, because the elder Escudero was in fact the main instigator of the guerrilla movement in the Philippines, especially in Luzon, in WWII.

  63. This information on the elder Escudero I got from an interview with guerrillas for a special documentary on the resistance against the Japanese Imperial Army shown on Japanese TV that I helped edit for NHK last year.

  64. Bit of tecnical correction Yuko:

Lim is with the Scout Rangers (the Marines of the Army).

The Marines will obey and follow the orders of their direct commander without blinking – matter of motto. When Col Querubin of the Marines decided to mount his Edsa walk with his Marines troop, his subalterns were obeying his orders and not BrigGeneral Lim’s of the Scout Rangers.

If you remember, when FOIC (Flag Officer in Command Vice-Admiral David Wong clashed with the Marine commander a couple of years ago, they almost mutinied – normally that should have been outright mutiny in military law – who lost? VAdm David Wong. He was promptly relieved of his command and retired right away.

That’s why we call troops in the Marines, “Grunt, Grunt”…(a term which also applies to the lowest members of the other military units)

I should mention the attempt now to quell people on the Internet from bombasting the criminally inclined, the mother of lies and deceit and the wannabe worst occupant of the palace by the murky river.

I was going to say, “worst president the Philippines has ever had” but this crook has never been elected to that position and therefore has no right to hold that title! And this is the reason why I can’t see why good soldiers like Lim should not say what he allegedly did in front of a video camera. No good soldier I think should serve and follow someone who has deliberately defied convention and violated the laws of the land that he has taken an oath to uphold to protect the land he loves and pledges to sacrifice his life for.

To all those soldiers who really love their country and want to serve it right, we say “Mabuhay!
