Goodbye, Marlyn

I’m once again reminded of the fleetingness of life with the passing of Marlyn Divinagracia, wife of Capt. Ervin Divinagracia, one of the 28 officers detained in Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.

It was so sudden. Marlyn was diagnosed with leukemia Friday, Nov. 7. By Friday, Nov. 14, she was gone.

She was 32. She left two lovely children, four-year old Francine and two-year old Amiel Jude.

Marlyn’s remains lie in state at the St. Ignatius Funeral Homes on Boni Serrano Avenue (across Camp Crame). Interment is on Sunday.

I had written about Marlyn and how she and other wives of the patriot-detainees were coping with their husbands’ incarceration last year. Please click to “Lies moms have to tell detained officers’ kids”

It might as well be said that Gloria and Esperon are responsible for this. These two criminals continue to rob and kill a nation.

First time I heard of someone dying of leukemia in just one week. It could have been advanced stage. Had it been diagnosed earlier, she would have lived longer. But what’s more painful is the fact that her husband was not able to be with her days before her death. Worse criminals like Bolante and De La Paz were able to go home and join their families while these soldiers jailed for political reason continue to suffer in jail without seeing their families. I’m also reminded of Col. Querubin or Gen. Miranda who was refused medical treatment when needed while Joc Joc was able to stay comfortably in a luxurious room at St. Luke’s.

  5. BE, Capt. Divinagracia was given pass (with security escorts) to be with his wife. He was beside Marlyn during her last days.

Yes, you are right. The doctor said the disease was already in its late stage.

5 days of security pass to be with her dying wife? yun lang ba ang kayang maibigay ng pamunuan ng afp kay capt. ervin?

So young to die. She sacrificed a lot for her incarcerated husband. She was one of the wives who had to take five rides going to Tanay with her two young children.

I met the meek Marlyn several times. Very soft spoken and always with a smile.

Marlyn probably had been feeling sick but simply ignored the sickness because she knew that her husband and her very young children needed her more.

May Marlyn rest in peace and may she continue to watch over her children, her husband and the Tanay Boys and their families as well.

I hope too Marlyn that you go and pull the leg of asspweron and the evil bitch who deprived you and your children of your husband’s love and care particularly in your last days on earth.

  10. Stress, worry, etc. in fact can cause cancer according to recent medical reports. Marilyn must have had lots of sleepless nights that must have caused her to develop leukemia.

I pray that this tragedy will make Capt. Divinagracia stronger in his resolve to fight for truth and justice, so help him God!

  11. Some lesson can be learned in fact from this tragedy. Truth is this is going to be one of the burdens of guilt that Gloria Dorobo will have to answer for at the Last Judgment.

Just think of the number of lives ruined and destroyed by the ambition of this crook. Even those people who were supposed to have lived righteous lives but have become crooks like for instance those so-called “Euro Generals,” who cannot feel guilty because everybody is doing the same anomalous activities plus they have the assurance from Gloria Dorobo and her husband that they would not be touched by anybody, not even the senators, as long as they don’t spill the beans. May pabuya pa sa totoo lang. Takipan ng baho galore!

  12. parasabayan parasabayan

  13. Unfortunately, PSB, it is not how justice works in heaven. At least, Marilyn, is now free from any physical pain, etc. Let’s just pray that her death will not be in vain.

Mabait ang mukha niya. Sabi nga, “Only the good die young!”

    Ellen,
Aside from our prayers we should get a collection going for the children. Where I can I send mine Ellen? Can you please take charge. Please e-mail me Ellen so I can keept it going. Thanks

Yuko, nanggigigil lang kasi ako sa dalawang demonyong ito9the evil bitch and the asspweron). What Marilyn had to endure while her husband is wrongfully incarcerated must have caused her to be even sicker.

I am crying for the kids. Wala silang kamuang muang. Their mom is gone and their dad is incarcerated. He can not even hold them when they cry at night or feed them when they are hungry. He will not be able to have them in his jail cell. It is not a place for kids growing up. It is so sad indeed!

What causes leukemia? More and more young people are dying of leukemia.

I hope Dela Paz and those who are guilty of money smuggling don’t get sick of another cancer…Euromia.

    Off Topic:

Six of the 14 applicants to the first Supreme Court vacancy in January 2009 have personal and political ties to President Arroyo—in varying degrees. Two are from the private sector, Rodolfo Robles and Cesar Villanueva, three are from the judiciary—Court of Appeals Justices Mariano del Castillo and Andres Reyes, and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Diosdado Peralta—and one is from the executive branch, Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera.

  18. Hi dandaw, much as I want to help the family of marlyn, I don’t want this blog to be used for fund-raising.

If you are in manila, her wake is at St. Ignatius. But I’ll relay your message to the family.

I’ll print out this page and show to Capt. Ervin.

  19. bitchevil bitchevil

I agree with dandaw and appreciate his generosity. Without a mother to take care of the kids and the father is detained, the least that we could do is to help the family in whatever way we can. I personally don’t see anything wrong using this blog as the medium to assist the family. Everything shall be accounted for. What we need is a venue to collect the funds. Help doesn’t stop at the wake. More help is needed after the burial. The living needs our help.

My heartfelt condolences to Capt. Ervin Divinagracia and family.

  21. PSB:

I can understand your feeling. Ganyan din ang nararamdaman ko—panghihinayang, although I hope this sacrifice by this young and beautiful woman will not be in vain.

About a year or two ago umuwi.

What can I say. No vile words can describe what gloria macapagal arroyo and esperon is doing to the families of all those detained soldiers. You cannot even call gloria and esperon heartless and without conscience. But what surprises me more is the complete silence of the catholic bishops and the CBCP. For all their moral posturing they could not even pull themselves up to take the cudgels of these suffering families. They talk about renewal and more renewal, but here in their faces are the suffering people. They are in violation of todays gospel … I am in prison and you visited me. What a farce these bishops are. For you suffering soldiers and your families, all we can give are our heartfelt prayers. Tonight before my wife and I sleep, we will say special prayers for you.

  23. Heartful condolences to those she left behind. May she rest in peace…

Ellen, I live in the U.S. What we can do is show it to the one in-charge or her husband, he should open a bank account there and we will wire transfer our contribution. Make sure that it is only a deposit account so her husband is the only one who can withdraw and no one else.

Trials are given to us to make us stronger. Be strong for your children and for the country.

My condolences to you Capt Ervin and Family.

I am just wondering if your children, members of your family and friends are aware that you are one of the heroes of our Filipino nation. You sacrificed so much to liberate us the Filipino people from a collaborator GMA of foreign invaders: the Americans who have been corrupting our education, economy, foreign policies, our military and our defense system since the 1900s after almost a million of us Filipinos died resisting them; and the Chinese who have been controlling our economy with the help of the Americans during the 1900s and have even become stronger now with GMA.

I wonder if they are aware that you did your duty in the true tradition of a soldier- defending this nation of ours against foreign intrusion of our sovereignty and national integrity. GMA has been opening our jungles, islands and hills to American soldiers exposing our tactical assets to foreign intelligence advantage. GMA has been opening our Sabah to Malaysian control. GMA has been opening Spratleys, and our agricultural lands to Chinese control.

I wander if they have been reading news reports of the aforementioned facts. I wander if they have read our history of the Filipino American War. I wander if they have read history of our heros- Generals Artemio Ricarte, Antonio Luna, Alejandrino, Maj Torres Bugallon as well as that of Macario Sacay.

If they did, they most likely are aware that you are a hero and behind the accomplishments of every man is a woman. Behind you is the sacrifices of Marlyn.

  29. dandaw dandaw

Jose Miguel, What are you talking about the Americans are corrupting your educational system, your economies, foreign policies, etc. I am only trying to find some venue so I could contribute to Capt. Ervin and his kids. Please stop bad mouthing the americans because I get offended too. My father was a victim of the Japanese atrocities during the war but we must go on living and forget about the past but to blame the Americans for all the ills of the Philippines that is absured.

Cool man…America would be different…better under Obama. There would be a change even a little in US Foreign Policy. America would regain the respect of the world. Give it some time…

Marlyn, I second the motion Parasabayan’s “Marlyn, huwag lang “pull the leg”, sakalin mo na lang sila, please!”
